Article Synopsis
  • The study introduces a new metric called effective withdrawal time (WTS) to evaluate how much time doctors spend searching for suspicious lesions during colonoscopies, comparing it to the conventional withdrawal time (WT).
  • Researchers analyzed colonoscopy videos from 472 patients and found a strong correlation between AI-computed WTS and manually verified WTS, along with significant variations in WTS/WT ratios across different patient groups.
  • The findings suggest that AI-assisted WTS could be a superior tool for improving quality control and training in colonoscopy compared to traditional methods.
