The effectiveness and safety of computed tomography-guided hook-wire localization for secondary video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery: a retrospective study.

Background: Computed tomography (CT)-guided hook-wire localization is currently the most commonly used technique for preoperative localization of pulmonary nodules in clinical practice. With the increasing incidence of multiple primary lung cancers and the increasing occurrence of second primary lung cancers or local recurrences after lung cancer surgery, some patients need to undergo an ipsilateral or contralateral second pulmonary resection. In order to reduce the surgical difficulty of the second operation and accurately guide the surgical resection, preoperative localization of some nodules is necessary.

Chromium cycle in Red Soil Critical Zone constrained by chromium isotopes.

Chromium (Cr) isotopic system has been used to trace Cr pollution in the modern surface environment and redox change in the paleoenvironment. However, the transformation mechanism of Cr in soil and the accompanied Cr isotopic fractionation have not been clarified clearly. Here we measured Cr isotopic compositions (δCr) of two paddy field profiles from the Red Soil Critical Zone Observatory in South China.

Case Report: Uniportal robot-assisted thoracoscopic double-sleeve lobectomy after neoadjuvant immunotherapy.

Minimally invasive thoracic surgery, including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, has been proven to have an advantage over open thoracotomy with less pain, fewer postoperative complications, faster discharge, and better tolerance among elderly patients. We introduce a uniportal robot-assisted thoracoscopic double-sleeve lobectomy performed on a patient following neoadjuvant immunotherapy. Specialized instruments like customized trocars with a reduced diameter, bulldog clamps, and double-needle sutures were utilized to facilitate the maneuverability through the single incision.

Comparison of safety and anxiety/depression in computed tomography-guided hook-wire localization versus electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy-guided localization: a retrospective cohort study.

Background: The utilization of computed tomography (CT)-guided localization and electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (ENB)-guided localization has gained significant traction in the localization of pulmonary nodules before video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). This study aimed to ascertain the precision and safety of the two groups in the preoperative resection of isolated nodules in small peripheral lungs. Furthermore, we examined the subsequent outcomes pertaining to the decline in lung function and alterations in anxiety and depression following resection utilizing both localization techniques.

Influence of adjuvant chemotherapy on survival for patients with completely resected high-risk stage IB NSCLC.

Background: The use of adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) in completely resected stage IB NSCLC is still controversial. This study aims to investigate the efficacy of ACT in pathological stage IB non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with high risk factors.

Esophageal carcinosarcoma comprising undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma and squamous cell carcinoma: a case report.

Background: Esophageal carcinosarcoma (ECS) is a rare malignant tumor that often presents as an intraluminal polypoid lesion in the esophageal lumen. The pathogenesis of esophageal carcinosarcoma is not clear and its etiology is still being discussed.

Case Presentation: We report the case of a 68-year-old male who had dysphagia for approximately three months.

Source identification of chromium in the sediments of the Xiaoqing River and Laizhou Bay: A chromium stable isotope perspective.

Hexavalent chromium, Cr(VI), is a heavy metal contaminant and the reduction of Cr(VI) is accompanied by large isotopic fractionation. In this study, the sources of Cr were explored using the Cr isotopic composition of sediments from the Xiaoqing River, a heavily polluted river located in the Shandong Province of China, which flows into Laizhou Bay. The results show that δCr values of the sediments are the highest upstream near the pollution source, and gradually decrease along the river toward the range for igneous reservoirs observed near the estuary.

Absence of hexavalent chromium in marine carbonates: implications for chromium isotopes as paleoenvironment proxy.

The oxygenation of Earth's atmosphere is widely regarded to have played an important role in early-life evolution. Chromium (Cr) isotopes recorded in sedimentary rocks have been used to constrain the atmospheric oxygen level (AOL) over geological times based on the fact that a positive Cr isotopic signature is linked to the presence of Cr(VI) as a result of oxidative continental weathering. However, there is no direct evidence of the presence of Cr(VI) in sedimentary rocks yet.

CD40 -1C>T polymorphism and the risk of lung cancer in a Chinese population.

Growing evidence suggests that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in CD40 are associated with the susceptibility to cancer.
