DNA logic circuits have gained great success in the past, thanks to their distinct performance regarding the scalability and correctness of computation. However, there are still two challenges often considered for DNA logic circuit-based computation. First, the mainstream optical probes are often subject to spectral overlapping interference for complex multitask analysis and outputs.

Influenza is a highly prevalent and highly contagious lung disease caused by influenza viruses. The main anti-influenza strategies are vaccination and antiviral drugs. Vaccination is an effective means of prevention, but the time lag in research and development makes it difficult to respond immediately to an outbreak.

Hydrogen, as a promising clean energy carrier, underscores the critical need for reliable detection technologies to ensure its safe and efficient use. Magnesium (Mg) thin films, with their hydrogenochromic properties, are particularly well-suited for hydrogen sensing applications due to their dramatic optical transitions. However, practical implementation faces challenges in achieving both rapid response and durability under cyclic conditions.

Background: Statins, as an important class of lipid-lowering drugs, play a key role in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. However, with their widespread use in clinical practice, some adverse events have gradually emerged. In particular, the hepatotoxicity associated with statins use has become one of the clinical concerns that require sufficient attention.

Edible bioplastics offer a possible approach with great potential to address the challenges of plastic and microplastic crisis and the issue of food waste. In the present study, in situ, induction of fibrillation of legume proteins within chitosan matrix is found to form edible bioplastic films with a high CO/O selectivity coefficient of ≈130. Desirable mechanical properties, including a high elongation at break of ≈230%, are realized to fabricate shopping bags, which can be filled with 5 kg of fruits.

Excessive nitrogen fertilizer application is the main driving force threatening soil health and reducing multiple soil functions. The enhanced-efficiency nitrogen fertilizers (EENFs), such as urease inhibitors (NBPT), nitrification inhibitors (DCD), and coated controlled-release urea (RCN), have been proven to be effective measures for reducing nitrogen fertilizer application. However, the effects of EENFs on soil quality (SQI), microbial metabolic characteristics, and soil ecosystem multifunctionality (EMF) and their internal relationships are still unclear.

Preparing stable n-type flexible single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)-based thermoelectric films with high thermoelectric (TE) performance is desirable for self-powering wearable electronics but remains a challenge. Here, the interface regulation and thermoelectric enhancement mechanism of ferrocene derivatives on polyethylenimine/single-walled carbon nanotube (PEI/SWCNT) composite films have been explored by doping ferrocene derivatives (f-Fc-OH) into PEI/SWCNT films. The results show that the introduction of f-Fc-OH leads to the formation of "thorn" structures on the surfaces of SWCNT bundles via hydrophilic and hydrophobic interactions, the generated energy-filtering effect improves the thermoelectric properties of the PEI/SWCNT film, and the f-Fc-OH-doped PEI/SWCNT (f-Fc-OH/PEI/SWCNT) achieves the highest room-temperature power factor of 182.

The use of solar greenhouses in China is increasing because they permit environmental conditions to be controlled. Studies of the heat transfer processes in the leaves of plants cultivated within solar greenhouses are needed. Here, we studied heat transfer processes in 'Shine Muscat' grapevine leaves under moderate deficit irrigation (MDI), severe deficit irrigation (SDI), and full irrigation (FI) treatments under varying weather conditions.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study found that plants grown at high altitudes had increased phloretin levels due to specific changes in protein expression, including a decrease in photosynthesis-related proteins.
  • * A newly identified enzyme that boosts phloridzin production was found to be more active in these high-altitude plants, providing insights into how to optimize phloretin production effectively.

  • Exosomes from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) boost cell growth and tissue healing by releasing their contents into recipient cells, playing a key role in early-stage treatment effects, though more research is needed on their early therapeutic benefits.
  • The study introduces a method to measure the ability of exosomes to improve the cytoskeleton and cell contractility through three-dimensional cell traction force, visualizing exosome effects in real time without damaging cells.
  • Findings indicate that endometrial stromal cells show increased traction force and altered cell shape in response to exosome therapy, linked to the regulation of the Rac1/RhoA signaling pathway, ultimately enhancing cell proliferation.

  • Solid-state spin systems with nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamonds are becoming popular for quantum sensing, but current setups often underperform in sensitivity.
  • This study boosts sensitivity by using a deeper excitation beam, which increases the number of particles that can be polarized, thereby enhancing measurement accuracy.
  • The new method, utilizing an Airy beam instead of the traditional Gauss beam, improves the spin resonance factor by 10.02%, making NV center sensors more effective.

Objective: To analyze the CT and MR features of Primary hepatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (PHNENs) in order to enhance the diagnostic accuracy of this disease.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients diagnosed with hepatic neuroendocrine neoplasms, excluding other sites of origin through general examination and postoperative follow-up. The CT and MR signs were analyzed according to the 2018 version of Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS), along with causes of misdiagnosis.

Background: Quantitative detection of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) is commonly done to screen for G6PD deficiency. However, current reference intervals (RIs) of G6PD are unsuitable for evaluating G6PD-activity levels with local populations or associating variants with hemolysis risk to aid clinical decision-making. We explored appropriate RIs and clinical decision limits (CDLs) for G6PD activity in individuals from Guangzhou, China.

Osteosclerosis in multiple myeloma (MM) is typically associated with rare POEMS syndrome, characterized by polyneuropathy (P), organomegaly (O), endocrinopathy (E), M-protein (M), and skin changes (S). However, osteosclerosis in multiple myeloma (MM) without POEMS syndrome, defined as non-POEMS Osteosclerotic MM, is exceedingly rare. We report a 70-year-old man with rib pain, remarkably high bone mineral density and diffuse osteosclerosis.
