Background: The response of gastric cancer (GC) patients to first-line programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) blockade and S-1 plus oxaliplatin (SOX) chemotherapy varies considerably, and the underlying mechanisms driving this variability remain elusive. Exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) have emerged as potential biomarkers for efficacy prediction due to their roles in GC biology and stable expression in serum. In this study, we aimed to identify biomarkers to predict patients' response to anti-PD-1 therapy and further elucidate the potential mechanisms by which these exosomal miRNAs modulate the immune response in GC.

These vesicles are released by several cell types and are rich in "cargo" such as proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids, which are vital for regulating immune response and viral pathogenesis. Exosomes have been reported to be involved in viral transmission, immune escape mechanisms, and illness development in SARS-CoV-2 infection.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel dual photoredox/copper-catalyzed three-component alkylcyanation of alkenes and 1,4-alkylcyanation of 1,3-enynes have been developed. In this radical cyanoalkylation reaction, the photoredox induced alkyl radical from sulfoxonium ylides adds to the carbon-carbon double bonds of styrenes or 1,3-enynes, and the generated benzylic or allenyl radicals couple with a Cu(II) cyanide complex to achieve selective cyanation. The reaction exhibits high chemo- and regioselectivity and a wide substrate scope, providing an efficient method for the synthesis of alkyl nitriles and allenyl nitriles in a single step.

Methods: This retrospective study classified right eyes that underwent ICL implantation into two groups based on temporal or superior CCI. The Pentacam HR analyzer was used to measure the corneal astigmatism and HOAs.
Introduction: Pidanjiangtang (PDJT) is a traditional Chinese medicine formula empirically used to treat impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) based on the "Pidan" theory from the classic ancient book Nei Jing. However, the mechanism of PDJT intervention for IGT remains to be studied.
Objective: This study aims to explore the mechanism of PDJT granules intervention in IGT by integrating gut microbiome and UHPLC-MS untargeted metabolomics.

Flexible zinc (Zn) batteries have gained considerable attention as wearable energy storage devices because of their inherent safety and high theoretical capacity. However, conventional Zn anodes suffer from dendrite growth, high rigidity, and poor cycling stability issues, hindering their practical application in flexible zinc-ion batteries. Herein, a dendrite-free and flexible Zn anode is designed using direct ink writing (DIW) printed MXene as a flexible and highly conductive current collector and MXene-wrapped Zn powder (ZnP) as the active material by carefully optimising the rheological properties of MXene-based dispersion.

Acetyltransferase p300/CBP are key coactivators for AR-mediated transcription and represent promising therapeutic targets to inhibit AR activity in prostate cancer. We describe the design synthesis and evaluation of a new class of p300/CBP PROTAC degraders.

Firstly, there are slight differences in MRI images between healthy individuals and Parkinson's patients, and the medical field has not yet established precise lesion localization standards, which poses a huge challenge for the effective prediction of Parkinson's disease through MRI images. Secondly, the early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease traditionally relies on the subjective judgment of doctors, which leads to insufficient accuracy and consistency.

The refined wheat flour was mixed with different types of wheat starch in different addition levels, their microstructure, chemical bonds in the dough and baking characteristics of 0-8 weeks frozen dough bread were studied. With the increase of A-Type starch granules and whole wheat starch, the pores of gluten network first decreased and then increased. Conversely, an increase in B-Type starch granules consistently reduced gluten network porosity.

Tumors of the parapharyngeal space account for 0.5% of head and neck tumors and a wide range of tumor types can occur in this area, 80% of which are benign, the most common being pleomorphic adenomas of the salivary glands and neurogenic tumors.

Numerous microorganisms naturally produce vitamin B, yet the metabolic pathways involved are rigorously controlled. This regulation by the accumulation of vitamin B poses a challenge in constructing an efficient cell factory.

The construction of high-asymmetrical structures demonstrates significant potential in improving the functionality and distinctness of nanomaterials, but remains a considerable challenge. Herein, we develop a one-pot method to fabricate regioselective super-assembly of Prussian blue analogue (PBA) -- a PBA anisotropic structure (PBA-AS) decorated with epitaxial modules--using a step-by-step epitaxial growth on a rapidly self-assembled cubic substrate guided by thiocyanuric acid (TCA) molecules. The epitaxial growth units manifest as diverse geometric shapes, which are predominantly concentrated on the {100}, {111}, or {100}+{111} crystal plane of the cubic substrate.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTransition metal tellurides (TMTs) have been ideal materials for exploring exotic properties in condensed-matter physics, chemistry and materials science. Although TMT nanosheets have been produced by top-down exfoliation, their scale is below the gram level and requires a long processing time, restricting their effective application from laboratory to market. We report the fast and scalable synthesis of a wide variety of MTe (M = Nb, Mo, W, Ta, Ti) nanosheets by the solid lithiation of bulk MTe within 10 min and their subsequent hydrolysis within seconds.

Here, a thiocyanuric acid (TCA)-triggered strategy is presented to one-step rapid synthesis a double-crystalline Prussian blue analogue hetero-superstructure (PBA-hs) that comprises a Co[Fe(CN)] cube overcoated with a KCo[Fe(CN)] shell, followed by eight self-assembled small cubes on vertices. Unlike common directing surfactants, TCA not only acts as a trigger for the fast growth of KCo[Fe(CN)] on the Co[Fe(CN)] phase resulting in a PBA-on-PBA hetero-superstructure, but also serves as a flange-like bridge between them.

Background: Body mass index(BMI) in children appears to be associated with Otitis media with effusion(OME) in observational studies, but the causal relationship is not clear.
Methods: A two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study was used to explore the causal relationship between childhood BMI and OME in people of European ancestry. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of childhood BMI were used as exposures (n = 61,111), while GWAS of OME were used as outcomes (n = 429,290).
Catalytic performance of single-atom catalysts (SACs) relies fundamentally on the electronic nature and local coordination environment of the active site. Here, based on a machine-learning (ML)-aided density functional theory (DFT) method, we reveal that the intrinsic dipole in Janus materials has a significant impact on the catalytic activity of SACs, using 2D γ-phosphorus carbide (γ-PC) as a model system. Specifically, a local dipole around the active site is a key degree to tune the catalytic activity and can be used as an important descriptor with a high feature importance of 17.
