Chlorpyrifos (CPF) is an organophosphate insecticide that is extensively utilized globally due to its effectiveness against over 200 pest species. CPF exhibits its toxicity primarily through the inhibition of the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme, while mitochondrial damage and dysfunction have also been observed. Photocatalytic technology holds significant promise for sustainable development and environmental protection due to its ability to utilize renewable energy sources and degrade pollutants efficiently. In this study, BiOI nanosheets (NSs) were synthesized using a simple water bath method with varying amounts of mannitol and reaction temperatures to investigate their structural, morphological, photoelectronic, and photocatalytic properties. Notably, the introduction of mannitol played a critical role in inducing a transition in BiOI from an n-type to a p-type semiconductor, as evidenced by Mott-Schottky (M-S) and band structure analyses.

Microorganisms change the properties of microplastics, at the same time, microplastics can also affect the distribution of microorganisms. To investigate this issue, we chose to study Jianhu Lake, a plateau lake in southwestern China, by collecting data at three sampling locations. The microplastics and bacterial communities in the sediment columns of Jianhu Lake were sampled within a 0 to 60 cm profile, and the basic characteristics of microplastic abundance, shape, color, size, and polymer type were determined accordingly, via their collection, separation, extraction, and identification.

This study introduces a multifunctional device based on CuO/g-CN monitoring and purification p-n heterojunctions (MPHs), seamlessly integrating surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) detection with photocatalytic degradation capabilities. With the intensification of the energy crisis and the growing concern over environmental pollution, particularly the discharge of organic dye pollutants in industrial wastewater, photocatalytic degradation of these contaminants using solar energy has emerged as an effective, eco-friendly solution. In this study, we successfully synthesized 2D/2D g-CN/BiOI p-n heterojunctions via a simple precipitation method and a high-temperature calcination method. The unique 2D structures of g-CN nanosheets (NSs) and BiOI NSs, coupled with the synergistic effect between the two materials, significantly enhanced the photocatalytic degradation performance of the heterojunctions under simulated sunlight.

Two series of heterocyclic steroidal pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines derived from dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and epiandrosterone (EPIA) were designed and synthesized, and these compounds were screened for their potential antiproliferation activities. The preliminary bioassay indicated that some of target compounds exhibited significantly good antiproliferation activities against human melanoma cell line (A875) and human hepatocellular carcinoma (Huh-7) cell lines compared with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), and some of which present good antiproliferative activities as potential ALK inhibitors. The detailed analysis of structure-activity relationships (SARs) based on the inhibition activities, kinase assay, and molecular docking demonstrated that the antiproliferation activities of these steroidal pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine might be affected by the β-hydroxyl group of steroidal scaffold and the N atom of pyridine heterocycle.

This article investigates the control problem of bearing-based formation tracking for underactuated autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) considering actuator constraints and unknown disturbances. A leader-follower structure is adopted, where the leaders move with an unknown reference velocity. For the followers, an integrated strategy is proposed, which includes i) a bearing-based control method composed of a reference velocity estimator, a virtual velocity for achieving the desired formation, and an adaptive robust formation controller to track the virtual velocity under disturbances; and ii) a parameter tuning method based on control parameterization approaches and heuristic algorithms.

H11N9 viruses in wild birds might have provided the NA gene of human H7N9 virus in early 2013 in China, which evolved with highly pathogenic strains in 2017 and caused severe fatalities. Two series of novel steroidal[17,16-]pyrimidines derived from natural epiandrosterone and androsterone were designed and synthesized, and these compounds were screened for their potential anticancer activities. The preliminary bioassay indicated that some of these prepared compounds exhibited significantly good cytotoxic activities against human gastric cancer (SGC-7901), lung cancer (A549), and hepatocellular liver carcinoma (HepG2) cell lines compared with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), epiandrosterone, and androsterone. Especially the respective pairs from epiandrosterone and androsterone showed significantly different inhibitory activities, and the possible configuration-activity relationships have also been summarized and discussed based on kinase assay and molecular docking, which indicated that the inhibition activities of these steroidal[17,16-]pyrimidines might obviously be affected by the configuration of the hydroxyl group in the part of the steroidal scaffold.
