The golden cuttlefish (Sepia esculenta), a significant cephalopod in the Yellow and Bohai Seas of China, is highly esteemed for its exceptional medicinal and commercial value. The natural resources of the S. esculenta are currently facing depletion due to the ongoing environmental degradation and overfishing.

As a widely available, low-cost agricultural byproduct, bagasse is a potential solid carbon source and provides microbial attachment as a biofilm carrier. In this study, the effects of bagasse as a carbon source on biofloc formation, water quality, microbial community structure, and nitrogen conversion in a shrimp culture system were explored, and the performance of bagasse bioflocs was assessed. No bagasse was added to the control group (CK), and three bagasse addition groups were set up, with the floc content of the water maintained at 5 mL/L (BF5 group), 10 mL/L (BF10 group), and 15 mL/L (BF15 group).

The boldness and exploration of animals are closely related to their territoriality, with relevant studies having important applications in wildlife conservation. The present study establishes a behavior observation system measuring the boldness and exploration of swimming crabs () to clarify the relationship between boldness, exploration, and territoriality, as well as to provide a behavioral basis for the construction of marine ranching. The behavioral tests of crabs in a safe environment (predator absence), a dangerous environment (predator presence), and habitat selection (complex and simple habitat) are analyzed.

The concentration, chemical speciation, and spatial distribution of essential and toxic mineral elements in cereal seeds have important implications for human health. To identify genes responsible for element uptake, translocation, and storage, high-throughput phenotyping methods are needed to visualize element distribution and concentration in seeds. Here, we used X-ray fluorescence microscopy (μ-XRF) as a method for rapid and high-throughput phenotyping of seed libraries and developed an ImageJ-based pipeline to analyze the spatial distribution of elements.

Rice is an important source of calories and mineral nutrients for more than half of the world's population. The accumulation of essential and toxic mineral elements in rice grain affects its nutritional quality and safety. However, the patterns and processes by which different elements progressively accumulate during grain filling remain largely unknown.

Individual differences in metabolism and agonistic behavior have been a key research area in evolution and ecology recently. In this study, we investigated the boldness of swimming crabs and explored the agonistic behavior between female and male crabs, specifically examining competitions between bold females vs. bold males (BF-BM), bold females vs.

Background: Atrial AutoCapture™ (ACap™) was a new technological development that confirmed atrial capture by analyzing evoked response (ER) with a new method - paced depolarization integral ER detection - and optimized energy output to changes in the stimulation threshold. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical performance of ACap™ function.

Methods: This was a prospective, observational, nonrandomized two-center study.

Objective: To investigate the effects of oxidized-low density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) and urotensin II (U II) on the proliferation of rat aortic smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and the effect of ox-LDL on the mRNA expression of U II receptor GPR14 in.

Methods: Rat VSMCs were incubated with UII and ox-LDL at different concentrations. The viability of rat VSMCs was detected by MTT assay.

January 2005

Objective: To report the clinical features and the prognosis, the methods of diagnosis and treatment, and the early detection of the pulmonary toxicity induced by amiodarone.

Method: The clinical course, the findings of X-ray and CT and the results of treatment were summarized and analyzed in six patients with amiodarone-induced pulmonary toxicity.

Results: Five males, one female, aged 62 - 69 (66.

Objective: To observe the influence of different tocopherol isoforms on oxidized low density lipoprotein (oxLDL) or recombinant human C-reactive protein (rhCRP)-induced expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and to investigate the potential mechanisms and effects of different tocopherols on atherosclerosis.

Methods: Cultured HUVECs were incubated with oxLDL, oxLDL + alpha-tocopherol, oxLDL + gamma-tocopherol, oxLDL + mixed-tocopherols, rhCRP, rhCRP + alpha-tocopherol, rhCRP + gamma-tocopherol rhCRP + mixed-tocopherols for 24 hours, respectively. The ICAM-1 expressions of protein and mRNA were detected by cell enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), flow cytometric technique and RT-PCR.
