The influence of different sub-bandage pressure values in the prevention of recurrence of venous ulceration-A ten year follow-up.

Objective: The aim of this study was to establish the efficacy of three different strengths of compression systems in the prevention of venous leg ulcer (VLU) recurrences during a 10-year follow up period.

Methods: An open, prospective, randomized, single-center study included 477 patients (240 men, 237 women; mean age 59 years). Patients were randomized into three groups: Group A) 149 patients (allocated to wear elastic stocking 18-25 mmHg).

We aimed to collect data on all paediatric patients who were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) between the years 2000 and 2019 in Serbia and estimate for the first time its prevalence. Also, the trends of diabetes ketoacidosis (DKA) occurrence at the time of diagnosis are monitored. We collected and retrospectively analysed the data of patients <19 years with newly diagnosed T1DM.

Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) belongs to the group of enzymes which inhibition have the application in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. This study presents QSAR modeling for a set of compounds acting as CETP inhibitors based on the Monte Carlo optimization with SMILES notation and molecular graph-based descriptors, and field-based 3D modeling. A 3D QSAR model was developed for one random split into the training and test sets, whereas conformation independent QSAR models were developed for three random splits, with the results suggesting there is an excellent correlation between them.

A Risk Stratification Model for Cardiovascular Complications during the 3-Month Period after Major Elective Vascular Surgery.

Introduction: The Revised Cardiac Risk Index (RCRI) is an extensively used simple risk stratification tool advocated by the European Society of Cardiology and European Society of Anesthesiology (ESC/ESA).

Purpose: The aim of this study was to find the best model for predicting 3-month cardiovascular complications in elective major vascular surgical patients using preoperative clinical assessment, calculation of the RCRI and Vascular Physiological and Operative Severity Score for the enumeration of mortality and morbidity (V-POSSUM) scores, and the preoperative levels of N-terminal brain natriuretic peptide (NT pro-BNP), high-sensitivity troponin I (hs TnI), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs CRP).

First report on the nationwide incidence of type 1 diabetes and ketoacidosis at onset in children in Serbia: a multicenter study.

Unlabelled: Data regarding incidence of type 1 diabetes (T1DM), as well as data on frequency and severity of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) at the time of T1DM diagnosis is of paramount importance for national and regional healthcare planning. The aim of present multicenter study was to provide the first report regarding nationwide annual incidence rates for T1DM in youth in Serbia, as well as prevalence of DKA at the time of diagnosis. Data on all pediatric patients with newly diagnosed T1DM was retrospectively collected from all 15 regional centers for pediatric diabetes in Serbia during the period 2007-2017.

Comparison of weight and length at birth of non-Roma and Roma newborn in Serbia.

Objectives: Roma infants tend to be smaller and are diagnosed as SGA more often than non-Roma infants, suggesting that specific anthropometric norms for these infants may be useful. We aimed to construct population-based centile, gender-specific charts for birth weight and length for singleton Roma infants born from 35 to 42 weeks of gestation and to compare it with anthropometric data of non-Roma infants.

Methods: We analyzed data on 27,602 non-Roma (53 % males) and 2235 Roma (51 % males) singleton live infants delivered from 2006 to 2012 in South East Serbia.

Determinants of atherosclerosis in children and adolescents with diabetes type 1.

Introduction: To evaluate the degree of atherosclerosis in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes and its correlation with risk factors, traditional and other, such as anti-oxidative capacity of circulating blood and level of lipid peroxidation.

Material And Methods: Forty children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes with mean age 13.7 years were compared with 20 age- and sex-matched healthy control subjects.

Introduction: Chronic arterial insufficiency (CAI) of lower extremities is important socio-economical and healthcare problem, due to its high incidence of morbidity, disability and mortality.

Objective: The aim of our work was to determine the diagnostic importance of pulse oximetry in the early detection of stage of lower extremities CAI based on peripheral arterial oxygen saturation of haemoglobin (SpO2).

Methods: Prospectively, we analyzed a group of 50 patients, admitted at the Vascular Department of Surgical Clinic in Nis during the period from September 2006 to October 2007, with evident symptoms and signs of different stages of lower extremities CAI verified by ultrasonography.

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by inadequate secretion of insulin. Polyamine oxidase (PAO), a FAD-containing enzyme is involved in the biodegradation of Sp and Spd, catalyzing the oxidative deamination of Sp and Spd, resulting in production of ammonia (NH(3)), corresponding amino aldehydes and H(2)O(2). Malondialdehyde (MDA) and acrolein (CH2=CHCHO), potentially toxic agents, which induce oxidative stress in mammalian cells, are then spontaneously formed from aminoaldehydes.

Background: Compression therapy is the most widely used treatment for venous leg ulcers and it was used in different forms for more than 400 years. Published healing rates of venous ulcers obtained with compression therapy vary widely from 40-95%. [Determination of fibrin glue with antibiotics on collagen production in colon anastomosis].
