Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is an aggressive leukaemia characterised by uncontrolled blast cell proliferation. miRNAs and Clusters of Differentiation (CD) molecules play essential roles in AML progression. This study aims to investigate the effect of COVID-19 on the expression of circulating miRNA and CD molecules in AML.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are key regulators in Acute Myeloid Leukemia AML, affecting gene expression, including that of CD markers and impacting mutations within leukemic cells. Mutations in AML can alter miRNA profiles, which can affect the expression of CD markers and contribute to disease progression by influencing cellular processes such as differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis. Here, we examined the interplay of cell surface protein expression (CD markers), DNA mutations, and microRNA expression in AML patients.

Despite advancements in treatment and detection, cancer remains one of the most common causes of death worldwide. Conventional chemotherapeutic drugs used to treat cancer have non-specific toxicity toward normal body cells, which leads to several adverse effects. Second, malignancies are known to develop resistance to chemotherapy over time.

Background: The secondary infection of multi and extensively drug-resistant "" in severely ill COVID-19 individuals is usually associated with extended hospitalisation and a high mortality rate. The current study aimed to assess the exact incidence rate of coinfection in severely ill COVID-19 patients admitted to intensive care unit (ICUs), to identify the possible mechanism of transfer to COVID-19 patients and to find out their resistance rate against different antibiotics.

Methods: Fifty severely ill "COVID-19" individuals on respiratory support were selected with samples being collected from the pharynx.
