A1 polarization of astrocytes mediated prolonged inflammation contributing to brain injury in ischemic stroke. We have previously shown that AD16 protects against neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage in vivo and oxygen-glucose deprivation in vitro. More recently, AD16 has demonstrated safety, tolerability, and favorable pharmacokinetics in a randomized controlled phase I trial.

Cellular senescence (CS) is closely related to tumor progression. However, the studies about CS genes across human cancers have not explored the relationship between cancer senescence signature and telomere length. Additionally, single-cell analyses have not revealed the evolutionary trends of malignant cells and immune cells at the CS level.

Borehole strain monitoring plays a critical role in earthquake precursor research. With the accumulation of observation data, traditional data processing methods struggle to handle the challenges of big data. This study proposes a segmented variational mode decomposition method and a GRU-LUBE deep learning network based on machine learning theory.

N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors are key signaling molecules that mediate excitotoxicity during cerebral ischemia. GluN2A-containing NMDA receptors, which are mostly located in the intrasynaptic region, mediate normal physiological processes and promote neuronal survival. GluN2B-containing NMDA receptors, which are mostly located in the extrasynaptic region, mediate excitotoxicity injury and promote neuronal death during ischemia.

Background: Activated microglia play a key role in initiating the inflammatory cascade following ischemic stroke and exert proinflammatory or anti-inflammatory effects, depending on whether they are polarized toward the M1 or M2 phenotype. The present study investigated the regulatory effect of icaritin (ICT) on microglial polarization in rats after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury (CI/RI) and explored the possible anti-inflammatory mechanisms of ICT.

Methods: A rat model of transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) was established.

Background: Neuroinflammation plays a pivotal role in the acute progression of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury (I/RI). We previously reported that genistein-3'-sodium sulfonate (GSS), a derivative from the extract of the phytoestrogen genistein (Gen), protects cortical neurons against focal cerebral ischemia. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the neuroprotective effects exerted by GSS remains unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists are studying ways to protect the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to help with brain injuries caused by a blocked blood flow.
  • They tested four different fluids, including one called HSH, on rats that had a stroke to see which one was best at reducing brain damage.
  • The results showed that all four fluids helped protect the brain, but HSH was the most effective at reducing injuries and inflammation in the brain.

To investigate the nonlinear spatio-temporal behavior of earthquakes, a complex network has been built using borehole strain data from the southwestern endpoint of the Longmenshan fault zone, Sichuan-Yunnan region of China, and the topological structural properties of the network have been investigated based on data from 2011-2014. Herein, six observation sites were defined as nodes and their edges as the connections between them. We introduced Multi-channel Singular Spectrum Analysis (MSSA) to analyze periodic oscillations, earthquake-related strain, and noise in multi-site observations, and then defined the edges of the network by calculating the correlations between sites.
