Article Synopsis
  • Dementia impacts millions globally, and with no effective treatments available, identifying preventive factors is crucial.
  • This study reviewed how objectively measured environmental factors, like air pollution and neighborhood design, influence dementia risk and cognitive decline.
  • Results indicated that higher air pollution levels increase dementia risk, while access to parks and well-connected streets may help reduce that risk and support cognitive health.

Synergistic reduction of air pollutants and carbon dioxide (CO) emissions is currently a key environmental policy in China, yet provincial-level studies remain scarce. To fill the gap, this study developed a coupled emission inventory from 2013 to 2020 in Shanxi, a coal-dependent province critical to China's energy security. This facilitated the investigation of emission trends, primary sources, synergistic effects, and spatial distribution.

China has identified the synergistic reduction of pollution and carbon emissions as a crit ical component of its environmental protection and climate mitigation efforts. An assessment of this synergy can provide clarity on the strategic management of both air pollution and carbon emissions. Due to the extensive regional differences in China, the spatial effects of influencing factors on this synergy exhibit variation across different provinces.

As a type of cyanobacterial toxins, saxitoxin (STX) is receiving great interest due to its increasing presence in waterbodies. However, the underlying mechanism of STX-induced adverse effect is poorly understood. Here, we examined the developmental toxicity and molecular mechanism induced by STX using zebrafish embryos as an animal model.

A glassy carbon electrode was modified with a 3D-networked nanostructure composed of MoS, reduced graphene oxide and gold nanoparticles (3D-MoS/rGO/Au). The composites were prepared through in-situ growth of gold nanoparticles on 3D-MoS/rGO nanosheets via a hydrothermal method. The morphology and electrochemical features of the composite were investigated.
