Background: Abnormal expression of Zinc finger (ZNF) genes is commonly observed in osteosarcoma (OS), the most prevalent malignant bone tumor in children and teenagers. This project focused on the role of ZNF560 in the progress of OS.

Methods: The published datasets including TCGA-SARC and GSE99671 was utilized to screen out the abnormal expression of ZNF560 and associated gene patterns in sarcoma and OS tissues.

Article Synopsis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a long-lasting autoimmune disease that leads to inflammation and damage in joints, with key characteristics including inflammation of the synovial membrane and destruction of cartilage and bone.
  • The study found that an enzyme called lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1) is more active in RA tissues and plays a role in inflammation and cell movement related to RA.
  • The drug SP2509, which blocks LSD1, showed promise in reducing inflammation and joint damage in RA models by lowering pro-inflammatory proteins and inhibiting the migration of cells involved in RA progression.

Fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) have functions in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) through the onset of synovitis, the growth of pannus and the destruction of cartilage and bone. The significant increase in the proliferation, migration and invasion of FLSs induces the onset and advancement of RA. To date, the exact function of corepressor element-1 silencing transcription factor (CoREST) in RA remains unclear, but its expression has been determined in RA synovial tissues.

Background: The purpose of the current study was to explore the role and underlying mechanism of cellular retinoic acid binding protein 2 (CRABP2) in dexamethasone (DEX)-induced apoptosis in human osteoblast cells.

Methods: GSE10311 was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to identify the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) by the limma/R package. Primary human osteoblast was isolated and treated with different concentration of DEX (0, 10, 10, 10, 10, and 10 mol/L), and cell viability and flow cytometry were used to detect cell proliferation and apoptosis.

MicroRNA-155 (miRNA-155) is abundant in fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1) has been found that it can ameliorate the severity of RA. Tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-1 beta, and interleukin-6 are key proinflammatory cytokines implicated in the pathogenesis of RA.

Background: Numerous studies have shown that aberrant expression of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) is associated with the development and metastasis of osteosarcoma (OS). However, the role and function of LINC00319 with respect to regulating OS progression is unknown. The present study aimed to reveal the function and related mechanism of LINC00319 in OS.

Background: This article reports the effects of proenkephalin (PENK) on osteosarcoma (OS) cell migration.

Methods: A Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) dataset was used to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in OS tumor samples and normal human osteoblasts. Tumor tissue and adjacent normal tissue were collected from 40 OS patients.

A facultatively anaerobic, Gram-stain-negative, non-motile and straight to slightly curved long rod-shaped bacterial strain, designated XSD2, was isolated from coastal seawater of Xiaoshi Island, PR China. The cells were catalase-positive, oxidase-negative and non-flagellated. Strain XSD2 was found to grow at 20-40 °C (optimum, 33 °C), at pH 6.
