To study the responses of radial growth of to climate factors of the different periods (pre-growing season (February-April), growing season (May-July)), and the vulnerability (resistance, ; recovery, ) of to different drought events (precipitation, temperature and the both caused), we used tree ring width data of from 17 sampling sites across the northeastern Tibetan Plateau to analyze the correlation between radial growth and climate factors of different periods, and the vulnerability in different drought events. The results showed that radial growth of had significant positive correlation with drought index and negative correlation with temperature in the growing season (<0.1).

Methods: Ten upper eyelids of 10 formalin-fixed Chinese cadavers (9 elderly people, from 68 to 86 years of age; 1 male child, 10 years old) were examined. Full-thickness sagittal sections of the central part of the upper eyelids were microscopically examined using hematoxylin-eosin, Masson trichrome, and anti-smooth muscle actin antibodies staining.

Materials And Methods: Postmortem specimens of 6 Chinese males (5 elderly men, aging from 68 to 86 years; 1 child, 10 years old) were used. A 3-μm thickness sagittal section of the central part of the upper eyelid was prepared, and the samples were examined microscopically by using hematoxylin-eosin, Masson trichrome, and anti-smooth muscle actin antibodies staining.
High-income countries often outsource material demands to poorer countries along with the associated environmental damage. Previously, we developed a transgenic mouse model that expresses a gene, fat-1, encoding an n-3 fatty acid desaturase, which converts n-6 PUFAs to n-3 PUFAs in vivo. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) in serum are stable, reproducible, and consistent among individuals of the same species and serve as potential biomarkers for the detection of cancers and other diseases.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTo investigate whether neural nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) in the parabrachial nucleus (PB) is involved in processing visceral noxious stimulation, we mapped the distribution of histochemical staining for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate diaphorase (NADPH-d), a marker for nNOS, and immunohistochemical staining for Fos, a neuronal activity marker, in the subnuclei of the PB following 2% formalin injection into the stomach of rats. NADPH-d and noxious-stimuli induced Fos staining were also examined in tissue containing PB cells labeled by the retrograde transport of fluogold (FG) injected into the central nucleus of the amygdala (CeA). We found that the number of Fos immunoreactive (Fos-IR) neurons was significantly increased in the dorsal lateral (dl), external lateral (el) and Kölliker-Fuse (KF) subnuclei of the PB.
