Aluminum-based metal-organic framework/sodium alginate-chitosan (Al-MOF/SA-CS) composite beads were synthesized and employed as an adsorbent for the removal of bisphenol A (BPA). Several methods, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), were used to characterize the prepared adsorbents. Results demonstrated that the introduction of CS could change the porosity of the beads and the obtained Al-MOF/SA-CS composite beads possessed higher surface area and total pore volume comparing with the beads without CS.

The use of chitosan combined with magnetic Loofah biochar (CMLB) was investigated for the removal of Cr(VI) and Cu(II) from aqueous solution. The modified biochar had higher Cr(VI) and Cu(II) adsorption capacity than that of pristine biochar. 40%-CMLB showed high Cr(VI) and Cu(II) adsorption capacity of 30.

The presence of tetracycline antibiotics (TCS) in the water and wastewater has raised growing concern due to its potential environmental impacts; thus, their removal is of high importance. In this study, a novel aluminum-based MOF/graphite oxide (Al-MOF/GO) granule was prepared as an adsorbent for the removal of TCS including oxytetracycline (OTC) and chlortetracycline (CTC). The adsorbent was characterized via XRD, FTIR, BET, SEM, and XPS methods.
