The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of increasing choline supplementation on the intake of milk replacer (MR) and calf starter (CS), growth performance, and fecal scores of calves over 8 wk. One hundred calves from commercial herds were transported to the University of Minnesota Southern Research and Outreach Center (SROC) calf facility randomized to one of 4 treatments differing in choline supplementation within MR including: 0 (C0; n = 24), 700 (C700; n = 26), 1,400 (C1400; n = 25), and 2,100 mg/kg choline (C2100; n = 25). Milk replacer contained a basal concentration of 1,650 mg/kg MR resulting in total choline concentrations in the MR of 1,650 mg/kg for C0, 2,350 mg/kg for C700, 3,050 mg/kg for C1400, and 3,750 mg/kg for C2100.

Herein, we report the synthesis of seleno-substituted chromenes from selenoalkynes and phenols. In this cascade reaction, the applied gold catalyst not only functions as a π-acid, but also as a Lewis acid, enabling the propargylic substitution in the first step to connect the oxygen carbon bond. Under the optimal reaction condition a total of 26 chromenes were accessible by this modular access.

According to Gottfredson's Career Construction (CC) theory (1981), young people - influenced by their need for social approval - have already narrowed down their spectrum of acceptable occupations by the time they participate in school-based career orientation programs. Manganese (Mn) is of particular concern in groundwater, as low-level chronic exposure to aqueous Mn concentrations in drinking water can result in a variety of health and neurodevelopmental effects. Much of the global population relies on drinking water sourced from karst aquifers. Introduction: Endurance exercise at altitude can increase cardiac output and pulmonary vascular pressure to levels that may exceed the stress tolerability of the alveolar-capillary unit. This study examined the effect of ultramarathon trail racing at different altitudes (ranging from <1000 m to between 1500 and 2700 m) on alveolar-capillary recruitment and lung diffusion.

Positioning the positive pressure ventilator in front of the door opening affects the effectiveness of the rescue operation carried out during a fire. An important factor determining the effectiveness of the positive pressure ventilator is also the layout of the rooms within the gas exchange path and the obstacles present there. The volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in exhaled breath are ideal for studying the effects of exhaustive exercise on the lungs due to the proximity of the breath matrix to the respiratory tract. Aircrew may experience rapidly oscillating inspired O2/N2 ratios owing to fluctuations in the on-board oxygen delivery systems (OBOG).
