Combining dosiomics and machine learning methods for predicting severe cardiac diseases in childhood cancer survivors: the French Childhood Cancer Survivor Study.

Background: Cardiac disease (CD) is a primary long-term diagnosed pathology among childhood cancer survivors. Dosiomics (radiomics extracted from the dose distribution) have received attention in the past few years to assess better the induced risk of radiotherapy (RT) than standard dosimetric features such as dose-volume indicators. Hence, using the spatial information contained in the dosiomics features with machine learning methods may improve the prediction of CD.

Neurological hospitalisations in childhood cancer survivors treated before 2001: findings from the French Childhood Cancer Survivor Study cohort.

Purpose: Childhood cancer survivors (CCS) have an increased risk of developing late chronic diseases, which can be influenced by the cancer type and its treatment. These chronic diseases can be severe and disabling, typically emerging years to decades after treatment. These deficits negatively impact quality of life, intelligence quotient, and memory.

Antibiotic therapy impact on intravesical BCG therapy efficacy for high-risk localized bladder cancer treatment.

Intravesical Bacillus Calmettes-Guerin (BCG) instillations is the gold standard adjuvant treatment for high and very high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Antibiotics may be required to treat asymptomatic bacteriuria before instillations or to prevent side effects. By modifying the bladder microbiota and through its bactericidal action, it could modify the efficacy of BCG.

S-CIMA: Supervised spatial single-cell image analysis for identifying disease-associated cell-type compositions in tissue.

The spatial organization of various cell types within the tissue microenvironment is a key element for the formation of physiological and pathological processes, including cancer and autoimmune diseases. Here, we present S-CIMA, a weakly supervised convolutional neural network model that enables the detection of disease-specific microenvironment compositions from high-dimensional proteomic imaging data. We demonstrate the utility of this approach by determining cancer outcome- and cellular-signaling-specific spatial cell-state compositions in highly multiplexed fluorescence microscopy data of the tumor microenvironment in colorectal cancer.

S2k guideline diagnosis, prevention, and therapy of hand eczema.

The consensus-based guideline "Diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of hand eczema (HE)" provides concrete instructions and recommendations for diagnosis, prevention, and therapy of HE based on an evidence- and consensus-based approach. The guideline was created based on the German guideline "Management von Handekzemen" from 2009 and the current guideline of the European Society of Contact Dermatitis (ESCD) "Guidelines for diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of hand eczema" from 2022. The general goal of the guideline is to provide dermatologists and allergologists in practice and clinics with an accepted, evidence-based decision-making tool for selecting and conducting suitable and sufficient therapy for patients with hand eczema.

Long-Term Oncological and Functional Outcomes after Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy with Hyperselective Embolization of Tumor Vessels in a Hybrid Operating Room.

Laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) after hyperselective embolization of tumor vessels (HETV) in a hybrid operating room (HOR) that combines traditional surgical equipment with advanced imaging technology, is a non-clamping surgical approach to treat localized kidney tumors that has shown promising short-term results. The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term oncological and functional outcomes of this procedure. All consecutive patients treated for a localized kidney tumor by LPN after HETV between May 2015 and October 2022 in a single academic institution were included in the study.

Risk factors for obesity in adulthood among survivors of childhood cancer.

Objective: The aim of this study was to identify risk factors for obesity in childhood cancer survivors (CCSs).

Methods: The study included 3199 patients of the French Childhood Cancer Survivor Study cohort, with 303 patients with obesity who had returned the self-questionnaire. Analyses were adjusted for social deprivation index and sex.

[Current dermatology guidelines in Germany-selected recommendations from 2021 and 2022].

Guidelines are systematically developed decision-making aids to ensure appropriate clinical care for specific medical conditions. In Germany, dermatological guidelines are developed under the aegis of the German Dermatological Society (DDG) and the Professional Association of German Dermatologists (BVDD), while European and international guidelines are published by organisations such as the European Centre for Guidelines Development (EuroGuiDerm), founded by the European Dermatology Forum (EDF) in cooperation with the Division of Evidence-Based Medicine at Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin. In 2021 and 2022, the German guidelines were revised or developed on topics such as the management of anticoagulation during dermatological procedures, chronic pruritus, contact dermatitis, laser therapy of the skin, psoriasis vulgaris, rosacea, extracorporeal photopheresis, onychomycosis, mucous membrane pemphigoid and prevention of skin cancer.

Nonelectric shaving of endometrial polyp by hysteroscopy - A new technique to eliminate thermal damage.

Objective: To present a new technique for complete endometrial polypectomy, using the bipolar loop hysteroscope, but without the activation of electrical energy, and follow its efficiency and safety for the patient.

Study Design: This is a prospective descriptive study conducted at a university hospital. Forty four patients were recruited to the study according to an intra uterine polyp diagnosed by transvaginal ultrasound (TVS).

Assessment of Differentiated Thyroid Carcinomas in French Polynesia After Atmospheric Nuclear Tests Performed by France.

Importance: Due to the amount of iodine 131 released in nuclear tests and its active uptake by the thyroid, differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) is the most serious health risk for the population living near sites of nuclear tests. Whether low doses to the thyroid from nuclear fallout are associated with increased risk of thyroid cancer remains a controversial issue in medicine and public health, and a misunderstanding of this issue may be associated with overdiagnosis of DTCs.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This case-control study was conducted by extending a case-control study published in 2010 that included DTCs diagnosed between 1984 and 2003 by adding DTCs diagnosed between 2004 and 2016 and improving the dose assessment methodology.

Contextual Detection of Pedestrians and Vehicles in Orthophotography by Fusion of Deep Learning Algorithms.

In the context of smart cities, monitoring pedestrian and vehicle movements is essential to recognize abnormal events and prevent accidents. The proposed method in this work focuses on analyzing video streams captured from a vertically installed camera, and performing contextual road user detection. The final detection is based on the fusion of the outputs of three different convolutional neural networks.
