Article Synopsis
  • Edaravone Dexborneol (EDB) is a combination treatment shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects that may protect against stroke.
  • The study investigates how EDB can reduce neuronal death by altering the harmful activation of A1 astrocytes after cerebral ischemia.
  • Results indicate that EDB not only improves behavioral outcomes and neuronal survival in mice but also suppresses neurotoxic A1 astrocyte activation through the inhibition of the NF-κB signaling pathway.

Two anthryl-functionalized cyanide-bridged [FeCo] cube complexes, [(pzTp)Fe(CN)Co(TpEtOAn)][OTf]·8MeCN·7EtO (1) and [NEt][(pzTp)Fe(CN)Co(TpEtOAn)][OTf]·5MeCN·2EtO (2) (pzTp = tetrapyrazolylborate, TpEtOAn = 2,2,2-tris-(pyrazol-1-yl)ethoxy(9-methyl-anthracene)), were synthesized and characterized. The crystallographic study revealed that the [FeCo] cubes are arranged into a linear supramolecular chain through significant anthryl-anthryl π-π stacking interactions in complex 1, whereas a zigzag supramolecular 1D assembly is observed in 2. The magnetic measurements showed that both compounds exhibited incomplete transitions from the paramagnetic {FeIIILS(μ-CN)CoIIHS} state to the diamagnetic {FeIILS(μ-CN)CoIIILS} state at about 200 K.
