Background/aims: Excision repair cross-complementing group 8 (ERCC8) is one of the members of the nucleotide excision repair pathway. This study aimed to explore the association between ERCC8 tag single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and gastric cancer.
Materials And Methods: Totally, 120 patients with gastric cancer treated from March 2010 to March 2011 were selected as the observation group and 120 healthy individuals were selected as the control group during the same period.
The function of melatonin (MLT) in promoting fracture healing has been demonstrated in previous studies. However, the molecular mechanism underlying therapeutic effects of MLT is not entirely clear. In this study, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were isolated from rat bone marrow and identified by flow cytometry.

Here we present a concept of triboelectric microplasma by integrating TENGs with the plasma source so that atmospheric-pressure plasma can be powered only by mechanical stimuli. Four classical atmospheric-pressure microplasma sources are successfully demonstrated, including dielectric barrier discharge (DBD), atmospheric-pressure non-equilibrium plasma jets (APNP-J), corona discharge, and microspark discharge.

Ynones are transformed to the corresponding propargyl alcohols in good yields with high regio- and chemoselectivity. Ynoates undergo highly regio- and stereoselective trans-hydroboration to produce E-vinylboronates.

Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into the sham operation group (S group), spinal cord injury group (SCI group), G-Rb1 treatment group (G-Rb1 group) and SCI+G-Rb1+Inhibitor L-name group (L-name group). The posterior limb function was evaluated via the Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan scoring method.

Here, by designing and preparing a rotating free-standing mode Ti/SiO TENG, the relationship between CE and temperature is revealed. It is found that the dominant deterring factor of CE at high temperatures is the electron thermionic emission.

Methods: We performed BRCA mutation screening using next-generation sequencing to determine the prevalence of BRCA germline deleterious mutations in an unselected cohort of Chinese OC patients (n = 1331) versus healthy controls (n = 1763) and describe the types and spectrum of BRCA deleterious variants.

Rationale: An epidemic of low quality medicines continues to endanger patients worldwide. Detection of such "medicines" requires low cost, ambient ionization sources coupled to fieldable mass spectrometers for optimum sensitivity and specificity. With the use of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), the charge required to produce gas-phase ions for mass analysis can be obtained without the need for high voltage electrical circuitry, simplifying and lowering the cost of next-generation mass spectrometry instruments.

Acupuncture has been widely used to treat ophthalmological diseases especially ophthalmoplegia in China. Many clinical trials indicate that acupuncture may promote the recovery of extraocular muscles in ophthalmoplegia patients.

In this paper, a sparsity-based feature extraction method using the tunable Q-factor wavelet transform with dual Q-factors is proposed for gearbox fault detection. Specifically, the proposed method addresses the problem of simultaneously extracting periodic transients and high-resonance component from noisy data for the gearboxes fault detection purpose.

The results showed that dicarboxyl-amyloses presented antibacterial activity through acidic pH effect produced by carboxyl groups, which was easily reduced or eliminated by adjusting pH. Dialdehyde-amyloses possessed a broad-spectrum antibacterial activity owing to the reactivity of aldehyde groups rather than acidic pH effect.

Due to natural process and human activities, steam can be produced by boilers, human perspiration, and the wind exists ubiquitously. In the outdoor environment, these two phenomena usually exist at the same place, which contain heat and mechanical energies simultaneously.

Piezoelectric generators (PEGs) are a promising power source for future self-powered electronics by converting ubiquitous ambient mechanical energy into electricity. However, most of the high-output PEGs are made from lead zirconate titanate, in which the hazardous lead could be a potential risk to both humans and environment, limiting their real applications. III-Nitride (III-N) can be a potential candidate to make stable, safe, and efficient PEGs due to its high chemical stability and piezoelectricity.

In order to increase its grain yield, it is critical to understand the eco-physiological differences in grain filling between the waxy and non-waxy wheat. In this study, two waxy wheat and two non-waxy wheat cultivars were used to investigate the differences in starch-associated enzymes processes, sucrose and starch dynamics, yield components, and the final grain yield.

Ynones are efficiently reduced with a mild hydride donor in the presence of a catalytic amount of nucleophilic phosphines. The reactions are selective 1,2-reductions that give propargyl alcohols in yields of up to 96%. It is proposed that success in these reactions depends on the activation of ynones by a Lewis base catalyst.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA long debate on the charge identity and the associated mechanisms occurring in contact-electrification (CE) (or triboelectrification) has persisted for many decades, while a conclusive model has not yet been reached for explaining this phenomenon known for more than 2600 years! Here, a new method is reported to quantitatively investigate real-time charge transfer in CE via triboelectric nanogenerator as a function of temperature, which reveals that electron transfer is the dominant process for CE between two inorganic solids. A study on the surface charge density evolution with time at various high temperatures is consistent with the electron thermionic emission theory for triboelectric pairs composed of Ti-SiO and Ti-Al O . Moreover, it is found that a potential barrier exists at the surface that prevents the charges generated by CE from flowing back to the solid where they are escaping from the surface after the contacting.

The oxidized κ-carrageenans with different oxidation levels were prepared through the hydrogen peroxide and copper sulfate redox system. The oxidation level of oxidized κ-carrageenan was successfully controlled by adjusting the dosage of hydrogen peroxide. The results showed that the microtopography of oxidized κ-carrageenan changed from rough granules to smooth flakes, mainly resulting from the easily melting property of oxidized κ-carrageenan induced by introduced carboxyl and aldehyde groups.
