Substructure-based representation learning has emerged as a powerful approach to featurize complex attributed graphs, with promising results in molecular property prediction (MPP). However, existing MPP methods mainly rely on manually defined rules to extract substructures. It remains an open challenge to adaptively identify meaningful substructures from numerous molecular graphs to accommodate MPP tasks.

Efficient and accurate developer screening is critical for high-resolution lithography. In this study, a multiparameter (MP) method simultaneously based on the Hansen solubility parameters (HSP), two-component solubility parameters (TSP), and order parameter (OP) is proposed for the developer screening of molecular glass resists via molecular dynamics simulation. A customized solvent database, including 80 organic solvents, is created for the subsequent developer screening.

Objectives: Although anti-VEGF and retinal laser photocoagulation are two therapeutic modalities that have been used in the clinical treatment of diabetic retinopathy (DR), it is unknown how these modalities target vascular endothelial function in DR.

Methods: We first downloaded and analyzed the differential genes in two DR-related datasets, GSE60436 and GSE53257. The differential gene expression was then verified using RT-qPCR, and the most upregulated gene, NDUFB7, was selected for subsequent experiments.

Background: Biliary tract cancer (BTC) is an invasive adenocarcinoma affecting the hepatobiliary system, but high recurrence rates highlight the need for more effective adjuvant approaches. The modified Glasgow prognostic score (mGPS) has been explored as an independent prognostic indicator in patients with BTC. However, consensus on its prognostic value is lacking.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is generally susceptible to the population, highly infectious, rapidly transmitted, and highly fatal. There is a lack of specific drugs against the virus at present and vaccination is the most effective strategy to prevent infection. However, studies have found that some groups, particularly patients with diabetes, show varying degrees of weak immune reactivity to various COVID-19 vaccines, resulting in poor preventive efficacy against the novel coronavirus in patients with diabetes.

Background: Biliary tract cancer (BTC) is a malignancy associated with unfavorable outcomes. Advanced BTC patients have a propensity to experience compromised immune and nutritional status as a result of obstructive jaundice and biliary inflammation. Currently, there is a lack of consensus on the impact of the Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score in the context of BTC prognosis.

To solve the disposal problems of carbide slag (CS), soda residue (SR), and red mud (RM) solid wastes, a new type of cemented paste backfill (CPB) was prepared with CS, SR, and RM solid wastes. The mixing proportion for the CPB was optimized by combining the Box‒Behnken design (BBD) response surface method and the satisfaction function method. The strength formation mechanism for the CPB was analyzed with physical and mechanical property tests, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), etc.

Autoimmune eye diseases (AEDs), a collection of autoimmune inflammatory ocular conditions resulting from the dysregulation of immune system at the ocular level, can target both intraocular and periorbital structures leading to severe visual deficit and blindness globally. The roles of air pollution and meteorological factors in the initiation and progression of AEDs have been increasingly attractive, among which the systemic and local mechanisms are both involved in. Exposure to excessive air pollution and extreme meteorological conditions including PM/PM, environmental tobacco smoke, insufficient sunshine, and high temperature, etc.

To estimate the direction of arrival (DOA) of a linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal in a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) hydroacoustic environment by a small aperture array, a novel deconvolved beamforming method based on fractional Fourier domain delay-and-sum beamforming (FrFB) was proposed. Fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) was used to convert the received signal into the fractional Fourier domain, and delay-and-sum beamforming was subsequently performed. Noise resistance was acquired by focusing the energy of the LFM signal distributed in the time-frequency domain.

The frequent emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants thwarts the prophylactic and therapeutic countermeasures confronting COVID-19. Among them, the Delta variant attracts widespread attention due to its high pathogenicity and fatality rate compared with other variants. However, with the emergence of new variants, studies on Delta variants have been gradually weakened and ignored.

Background: The role of surgery in the treatment of Graves' disease (GD) needs to be revisited. The aims of the present retrospective study were to evaluate the outcomes of the current surgical strategy as a definitive treatment of GD at our center and to explore the clinical association between GD and thyroid cancer.

Methods: A patient cohort of 216 cases from 2013 to 2020 was involved in this retrospective study.

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) is a malignant cancer with high incidence and mortality. Glycometabolic rearrangements (aerobic glycolysis) is a hallmark of PAAD and contributes to tumorigenesis and progression through numerous mechanisms. This study aimed to identify a novel glycolysis-related lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA ceRNA signature in PAAD and explore its potential molecular function.

Spirochetes are a large group of prokaryotes that originated from Gram-negative bacteria and are capable of causing a variety of human and animal infections. However, the pathogenesis of spirochetes remains unclear, as different types of spirochetes play pathogenic roles through different pathogenic substances and mechanisms. To survive and spread in the host, spirochetes have evolved complicated strategies to evade host immune responses.

Background: Low levels of vitamin D and altered local vitamin D metabolism have been associated with the prevalence and aggressiveness of several cancers. However, the effect of vitamin D on papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is controversial. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of preoperative serum vitamin D levels and local vitamin D metabolism on the clinicopathologic characteristics and prognosis of PTC.

Article Synopsis
  • Amphiphilicity is a key property that can enhance the functionality of copper nanoclusters (CuNCs), allowing them to interact with surfactants for better self-assembly.
  • The use of cationic surfactants and specific counterions can alter the amphiphilicity of CuNCs, enabling them to form structures that range from nanoparticles to larger network-like aggregates.
  • This research highlights that the self-assembled glutathione-capped CuNCs exhibit improved fluorescence due to reduced intramolecular vibrations, suggesting potential applications in solid fluorescent materials and light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

We report an outbreak of carbapenemase-producing hypervirulent in two hospitals that undergo frequent patient transfers. Analysis of 11 completely assembled genomes showed that the bacteria were ST11-K64 strains. Moreover, 12 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) identified the strains as having originated from the same cluster, and were also indicative of the interhospital transmission of infection.
