[Production of adeno-associated virus in insect cells using multiple gene deleted baculovirus].

Adeno-associated virus (AAV) is one of the most frequently used viral vectors in the field of gene therapy. However, the industrial production of AAV is facing key bottlenecks such as low yield and high-cost. The aim of this study was to establish a technology system for production of AAV in the double virus infected insects by using multiple-gene deleted baculovirus.

Nitrogen-doped porous carbons from polyacrylonitrile fiber as effective CO adsorbents.

In this report, nitrogen-doped porous carbons were synthesized from polyacrylonitrile fiber by a facile two-step synthesis process i.e. carbonization followed by KOH activation.

Achromatic and chromatic perceived contrast are reduced in the visual periphery.

The loss of contrast sensitivity with eccentricity is well documented, and is steeper for higher spatial frequencies, and for L/M cone-opponent stimuli compared to achromatic or S-cone-opponent. Here, we ask how perceived contrast depends on eccentricity when stimuli are presented at suprathreshold contrasts, and test two opposing predictions. Contrast constancy predicts no loss in perceived contrast across the visual field regardless of changes in detection threshold - appearance depends only on physical contrast.

Visual and semantic similarity norms for a photographic image stimulus set containing recognizable objects, animals and scenes.

We collected visual and semantic similarity norms for a set of photographic images comprising 120 recognizable objects/animals and 120 indoor/outdoor scenes. Human observers rated the similarity of pairs of images within four categories of stimuli-inanimate objects, animals, indoor scenes and outdoor scenes-via Amazon's Mechanical Turk. We performed multidimensional scaling (MDS) on the collected similarity ratings to visualize the perceived similarity for each image category, for both visual and semantic ratings.
