Proper development of surface epithelium (SE) is a requisite for the normal development and function of ectodermal appendages; however, the molecular mechanisms underlying SE commitment remain largely unexplored. Here, we developed a KRT8 reporter system and utilized it to identify FOXO4 and SP6 as novel, essential regulators governing SE commitment. We found that the FOXO4-SP6 axis governs SE fate and its abrogation markedly impedes SE fate determination.

The decomposition of 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME) in localized high-concentration electrolytes (LHCEs) under high voltage produces fragile and unstable organic fragments at the cathode/electrolyte interphase, which greatly damages the cycling performance of high-energy-density lithium metal batteries. Herein, a robust strategy is proposed by adding ionic liquid of 1-Methyl-1-propyl pyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (PyrTFSI) as co-solvent into the bulk electrolyte to significantly improve the stability of solvated DME through reinforcing the ion-dipole interaction between TFSI and DME. The PyrTFSI can balance the interaction among the electrolyte components to reduce the dynamic de-coordinated DME molecules and promote the formation of anion-derived cathode electrolyte interphase with excellent electrochemical stability and high Li transport dynamics.

Parent-adolescent relationships are shaped by daily interactions that include both warmth and conflict, yet most research has focused on aggregate or long-term patterns rather than their day-to-day fluctuations. Guided by family systems theory, this study examined how mothers and fathers distinctly contribute to daily parent-adolescent warmth and conflict, as well as how these interactions vary across families. The sample consisted of 307 Chinese adolescents (M = 13.

Background And Purpose: Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT) is the standard treatment regimen for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) but has unavoidable radiation toxicity. With the advent of more optimized chemotherapy regimens, neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is sometimes offered as an alternative to NACRT. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to compare the short- and long-term outcomes of NAC and NACRT for LARC patients.

Introduction: The relationship between rumination and depressive symptoms has been extensively studied over the past two decades. However, few studies have explored how rumination contributes to depressive symptoms within the context of heterogeneous romantic relationships, particularly regarding potential gender differences in these effects. The present study aims to investigate whether rumination is related to four key factors of depressive symptoms (i.

The ocular surface ectoderm (OSE) is essential for the development of the ocular surface, yet the molecular mechanisms driving its differentiation are not fully understood. In this study, we used single-cell transcriptomic analysis to explore the dynamic cellular trajectories and regulatory networks during the differentiation of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) into the OSE lineage. We identified nine distinct cell subpopulations undergoing differentiation along three main developmental branches: neural crest, neuroectodermal, and surface ectodermal lineages.

Understanding how embryonic progenitors decode extrinsic signals and transform into lineage-specific regulatory networks to drive cell fate specification is a fundamental, yet challenging question. Here, we develop a new model of surface epithelium (SE) differentiation induced by human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) using retinoic acid (RA), and identify BMP4 as an essential downstream signal in this process. We show that the retinoid X receptors, RXRA and RXRB, orchestrate SE commitment by shaping lineage-specific epigenetic and transcriptomic landscapes.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors combined with chemotherapy have shown promising efficacy in treating gastric or gastroesophageal junction (G/GEJ) adenocarcinoma in the neoadjuvant setting. This phase II trial (NCT05715632) aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of perioperative camrelizumab plus XELOX in patients with locally advanced G/GEJ adenocarcinoma. Treatment-naive patients with cT3-4aN1-3 M0 resectable locally advanced G/GEJ adenocarcinoma were recruited to receive camrelizumab (200 mg, intravenously) on Day 1 combined with XELOX (oxaliplatin at 130 mg/m on Day 1 and capecitabine at 1000 mg/m on Days 1-14) every 3 weeks for four cycles, followed by surgery and adjuvant camrelizumab combined with XELOX every 3 weeks for four cycles.

Parents of children with autism often experience a wide range of emotions in their daily lives. However, previous research has primarily focused on average levels of emotional challenges, neglecting the significance of daily emotion dynamics that may underlie parental psychological functioning. This study adopted a dynamic network approach to examine the strength of temporal connections within and between various emotions-referred to as emotion network density-and further explore its impacts on parental psychological distress.

Background: Ablation is one of the main methods for local treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Different from radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA) is not limited by tissue conductivity, and can use multiple electrodes at the same time to improve ablation efficiency. In addition, MWA can form a larger ablation area, which makes it possible to completely ablate large HCC.

Background: Entropy trajectories remain unclear for the aging process of human brain system due to the lacking of longitudinal neuroimaging resource.

Results: We used open data from an accelerated longitudinal cohort (PREVENT-AD) that included 24 healthy aging participants followed by 4 years with 5 visits per participant to establish cortical entropy aging curves and distinguish with the effects of age and cohort. This reveals that global cortical entropy decreased with aging, while a significant cohort effect was detectable that people who were born earlier showed higher cortical entropy.

Introduction: Procrastination is very common among college students, but there is a lack of consistency in the relationship between procrastination and academic achievement, which might be partly caused by the limitations of previous procrastination scales. The current study constructed the Situational Procrastination Scale (SPS) with two subscales, the Academic Situational Procrastination Scale (ASPS) and the Daily Life Situational Procrastination Scale (DSPS), by adapting previous procrastination scales.

Method: The valid sample for data analysis included 2,094 medical undergraduates.

Respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) inertia is the temporary dependency of RSA levels between consecutive epochs, which captures the epoch-to-epoch stickiness of RSA reactivity. Previous studies examining the developmental function of between-task RSA reactivity have yielded mixed findings and have often overlooked RSA reactivity within the task. The present study examined whether RSA inertia during a stress task was associated with subsequent changes in child psychopathology symptoms.

The subcortical maternal complex (SCMC) is essential for safeguarding female fertility in mammals. Assembled in oocytes, the SCMC maintains the cleavage of early embryos, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Here, we report that 14-3-3, a multifunctional protein, is a component of the SCMC.
