Knowledge about the mouse brown adipose tissue (BAT) proteome can provide a deeper understanding of the function of mammalian BAT. Herein, a comprehensive analysis of interscapular BAT from C57BL/6J female mice was conducted by 2DLC and high-resolution mass spectrometry to construct a comprehensive proteome dataset of mouse BAT proteins. A total of 4949 nonredundant proteins were identified, and 4495 were quantified using the iBAQ method.

Article Synopsis
  • White adipose tissue (WAT) is crucial for energy metabolism, and this study aimed to explore its proteome in female mice using an advanced 2DLC/MS/MS technique.
  • A total of 6,039 proteins were identified in WAT, with 5,160 quantified, revealing distinct functions based on protein abundance: high-abundance proteins were linked to energy metabolism, middle-abundance proteins to protein synthesis regulation, and low-abundance proteins to lipid metabolism and WAT beiging.
  • The study predicts 800 proteins as secreted based on their signal peptides and contributes valuable information, including several novel proteins and potential adipokines, to the understanding of WAT function.
