Article Synopsis
  • Long-term exposure to high altitudes negatively impacts cognitive function, particularly executive function, which can be measured through cognitive control capacity (CCC).
  • A study comparing high-altitude newcomers with low-altitude residents found that newcomers had significantly lower CCC.
  • Hyperbaric oxygen interventions improved CCC in high-altitude newcomers after 15 sessions, while those who did not receive the intervention showed no significant improvement.

In this study, we developed a data-driven frequency domain analysis method for rotor systems using the NARX (Nonlinear Auto-Regressive with eXternal input) model established by system vibration signals. We propose a model-based index of fault features calculated in a multi-frequency range to facilitate condition monitoring of rotor systems. Four steps are included in the proposed method.

Background: Infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN) accounts for 30% mortality in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Early prediction of IPN occurrence is critical for prophylactic measures to be taken. This study aimed to evaluate the predicting value for IPN of combined markers at early stages of SAP.

Objective: To explore whether Stromal Interaction Molecule-1 (STIM1) participates in the phenotypic transformation of NRK-52E cells under high-calcium microenvironment.

Materials And Methods: NRK-52E cells were treated with high concentration of calcium. The viability and apoptosis of cells were detected by CCK-8 (cell counting kit-8) and flow cytometry, respectively.

We performed this study to investigate pathological upgrading from biopsy to prostatectomy and clinicopathological factors associated with grade group (GG) upgrading in patients with International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) GG 1 and 2 prostate cancer (PCa) in a Chinese cohort. We included patients diagnosed with PCa with ISUP GG 1 and 2 at biopsy, who underwent RP at our institution. Pre- and postoperative clinical variables were examined.

Problem: Systemic immuno-inflammatory response caused by maternal immune imbalance is central to the pathogenesis of preeclampsia (PE). We hypothesized that changes in the number of decidual mesenchymal stem cells (dMSCs) may be associated with maternal immune imbalance. We aimed to evaluate the expression of CXCL12/CXCR4 axis in patients with PE and its influence on the migration behavior of dMSCs, to further clarify the pathogenesis of PE.

Article Synopsis
  • A meta-analysis was conducted to assess the effectiveness of remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) in preventing contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) in patients receiving intravascular contrast.
  • The study analyzed 16 randomized controlled trials involving 2,175 patients and found that RIC significantly reduced the incidence of CI-AKI and major adverse cardiovascular events.
  • Both types of RIC, known as remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPrC) and remote ischemic postconditioning (RIPoC), were effective, and perioperative hydration may enhance RIC's benefits.

Article Synopsis
  • A meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) on improving kidney transplant graft function using data from randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
  • Six RCTs with a total of 651 kidney transplant recipients were analyzed, showing that RIC could potentially reduce the incidence of delayed graft function (DGF), although the results were not statistically significant.
  • The study concluded that while RIC might have some protective effects on kidney grafts, more comprehensive and larger RCTs are needed to confirm its clinical benefits.
