Rice may absorb Cadmium (Cd) from the air through its leaves. The process of Cd foliar absorption, accumulation, and redistribution is yet unknown, nevertheless. In this study, the process of Cd absorption from rice leaves and its accumulation and redistribution during all stages of the rice plant's growth were examined.

Chemotherapy is the primary systemic treatment modality, and the effectiveness of treatment is often hampered by chemoresistance. Autophagy has been implicated in promoting chemoresistance, as elevated autophagic flux supports tumor cell survival under therapeutic stress.

The ability of insects to tolerate low temperatures, known as chill tolerance, contributes to their global distribution. However, the mechanisms underlying insect chill tolerance remain poorly understood. At low temperatures, insects enter chill coma, a reversible state of paralysis, owing to disrupted ion and water homeostasis.

Previous evidence suggests that abnormal epitranscriptome modifications are associated with reduced chemotherapy responses. However, the exact underlying mechanism remains largely unknown.

Conventional soil modifiers used to address this issue not only present environmental and economic concerns but also fail to effectively improve soil alkalinity. This study investigates the potential application of acidic desulfurization gypsum (DG) as a soil modifier for dispersive soils, aiming to achieve high-value utilization of industrial solid waste.

The approach effectively enhances the interfacial bonding between graphene and PLA by creating graphene dangling bonds and defects during exfoliation. As a result, an 182 % increase in Young's modulus and an 85 % increase in tensile strength can be achieved in G-PLA.

Using unsupervised hierarchical clustering, an 11-glycogene cluster is identified to distinguish an EC subtype associated with frequent TP53 mutation and worse prognosis. Among them, MGAT4A (alpha-1,3-mannosyl-glycoprotein 4-β-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase A) emerges as the most consistently overexpressed glycogene, contributing to EC aggressiveness.

The aim of this paper is to comprehensively review and summarize the effects of heat stress on ovarian granulosa cells and their mechanism of action. We systematically reviewed the effects of heat stress on ovarian granulosa cells, including intracellular steroid hormone changes, oxidative stress, apoptosis, and mitochondrial function.

Therefore, identifying the factors influencing the sleep quality of nurses and implementing corresponding interventions are conducive to improving the sleep quality of nurses and enhancing their nursing quality.
Methods: Form September to December 2022, a survey-based evaluation was conducted on 1074 front-line clinical nurses randomly selected from three hospitals in Zhejiang Province, China.
Natural plant-derived compounds with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity have become an effective strategy against multidrug-resistant bacteria. The present study was designed to compare the antibacterial activity of six chlorogenic acid (CA) isomers extracted from stevia and investigated the underlying antibacterial mechanisms involved. The results indicated that isochlorogenic acid C (ICAC) exhibited the strongest antibacterial activity against the tested bacteria, especially , at a 2 mg/mL minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and 8 mg/mL minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC).

Combining existing antibiotics with promising nonantibiotic agents is one strategy that has been shown to be effective at overcoming the widespread emergence of antibiotic-resistant pathogens. In this study, we investigated the antibacterial activities and mechanism of naringenin (NG) combined with amikacin (AMK) against multidrug-resistant ().

Quantum entanglement is a fundamental characteristic of quantum mechanics, and understanding the robustness of entanglement across different mixed states is crucial for comprehending the entanglement properties of general quantum states. In this paper, the robustness of entanglement of Dicke-W and Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) mixed states under different mixing ratios is calculated using the entanglement witness method. The robustnesses of entanglement of Dicke-W and GHZ mixed states are different when the probability ratio of Dicke to W is greater than 32 and less than 32.

This study aimed to investigate the detrimental impact of cigarettes on lung cells and the potential effects of astragaloside IV on lung epithelial cell oxidative stress and pyroptosis. The research utilized cigarette smoke extract (CSE) to stimulate lung epithelial cells BEAS-2B, assessed cytotoxicity using the CCK-8 method, and measured changes in reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitochondrial membrane potential with a probe method. Additionally, Seahorse XF24 was employed to analyze the impact of CSE on mitochondria in lung epithelial cells.
