Unlabelled: Seed storability is a crucial agronomic trait and indispensable for the safe storage of rice seeds and grains. Nevertheless, the metabolite mechanisms governing rice seed storability under natural conditions are still poorly understood.
Methods: Therefore, the seed storage tolerance of global rice core germplasms stored for two years under natural aging conditions were identified, and two extreme groups with different seed storabilities from the rice group were analyzed using the UPLC-MS/MS metabolomic strategy.
Heat facilitates aggregation and gel formation of soybean proteins. Ultrasonic reduces the size of protein aggregates. This study examined the impact of glycinin (11S) subunits on soybean lipophilic proteins (SLPs) gel formation and underlying mechanisms.

In this study, we cloned the rice(Oryza sativa)lipoxygenase gene OsLOX1, a key participant in the 13-lipoxygenase metabolic pathway. Our primary focus was to investigate its role in mediating responses to drought stress and seed germination in rice.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLeaf angle is a major agronomic trait that determines plant architecture, which directly affects rice planting density, photosynthetic efficiency, and yield. The plant phytohormones brassinosteroids (BRs) and the MAPK signaling cascade are known to play crucial roles in regulating the leaf angle, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. Here, we report a rice WRKY family transcription factor gene, OsWRKY72, which positively regulates leaf angle by affecting lamina joint development and BR signaling.

Therefore, selecting and breeding new disease resistance and drought tolerance in rice is essential to ensure national food security. The utilization of heterosis has significantly enhanced rice productivity, yet many of the molecular mechanisms underlying this phenomenon remain largely unexplored.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOpioids abuse in adolescence is becoming a pressing public health issue. While evidence suggests that exposure to opioids during adolescence leads to lasting alterations in brain development, the long-term cognitive implications in adulthood remain uncertain. We developed a male mouse model of adolescent morphine exposure and used the 5-choice serial reaction time task (5-CSRTT), along with the open field, novel object recognition, Y maze and Barnes maze tests, to assess changes in cognitive behavior.

The conditions were optimized and further evaluated for their vascular endothelial cell protective effects in vitro. The co-induced fermented GKJ group extensively promoted GB and total phenol contents, reaching 109.

In this study, we sequenced the complete genome of "Candidatus Phytoplasma oryzae" strain HN2022, associated with rice yellow dwarf (RYD) disease, using PacBio HiFi technology. The strain was classified within the 16Sr XI-B subgroup.

NAC (NAM, ATAF1/2, and CUC2) family transcription factors are involved in several cellular processes, including responses to drought, salinity, cold, and submergence. However, whether or how certain NAC proteins regulate drought tolerance in rice (Oryza sativa) remain unclear. In this study, we show that overexpression of OsNAC78 enhanced rice resistance to drought treatment, whereas Osnac78 mutant plants were susceptible to drought stress.

To understand if doubled chromosome of diploid rice can improve drought tolerance, we evaluated the diploid (2X) and autotetraploid (4X) plants of three indica and three japonica varieties. Drought stress in the plastic bucket of four-leaf stage revealed that the drought tolerance of 4X plants was lower than that of its diploid donor plants.

Although thousands of genes have been identified or cloned in rice (Oryza sativa) in the last two decades, the majority of them have only been separately characterized in specific varieties or single-gene modified backgrounds, thus limiting their practical application. We developed an optimized multiplex genome editing (MGE) toolbox that can efficiently assemble and stably express up to twelve sgRNA targets in a single plant expression vector. In this study, we established the MGE-based Rapid Directional Improvement (MRDI) strategy for directional improvement of complex agronomic traits in one small-scale rice transformation.

Recently, studies have demonstrated that DUFs played crucial roles in plant development, but whether, or how, they function in drought resistance remain unclear. In this study, we identified the Os03g0321500 gene, encoding OsbZIP72 binding protein 1 (OsBBP1), as a target of OsbZIP72 using chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing in rice.

Despite their potential, developing such photodetectors faces challenges due to the lack of suitable materials and operational mechanisms. Here, the study proposes a flexible photodetector composed of a monolayer graphene connected by two distinct metal electrodes.

Introduction: Heroin use disorder (HUD) is commonly accompanied by gut dysbiosis, but the roles of gut microbiota in HUD treatment, such as compulsory detoxification and methadone maintenance treatment (MMT), remain poorly understood.
Methods: In this study, we performed 16 s rDNA and whole metagenome sequencing to analyze the gut microbial profiles of HUD patients undergoing heroin addiction, heroin withdrawal (compulsory detoxification), and MMT.
Results: Our findings revealed that, compared to healthy controls, microbial diversity was significantly decreased in HUD patients who were in a state of heroin addiction and withdrawal, but not in those receiving MMT.
Background: Alcohol use disorder is characterized by compulsive alcohol-seeking behavior, which is associated with dysregulation of afferent projections from the medial prefrontal cortex to the basolateral amygdala (BLA). However, the contribution of the cell type-specific mechanism in this neuronal circuit to alcohol-seeking behavior remains unclear.
Methods: Mice were trained with 2-bottle choice and operant alcohol self-administration procedures.
