Dynamic brain networks (DBNs) can capture the intricate connections and temporal evolution among brain regions, becoming increasingly crucial in the diagnosis of neurological disorders. However, most existing researches tend to focus on isolated brain network sequence segmented by sliding windows, and they are difficult to effectively uncover the higher-order spatio-temporal topological pattern in DBNs. Meantime, it remains a challenge to utilize the structure connectivity prior in the DBNs analysis.

Inducing the degradation of KRAS represents a novel strategy to combat cancers with KRAS mutation. In this study, we identify ubiquitin-specific protease 2 (USP2) as a novel deubiquitinating enzyme of KRAS in multiple myeloma (MM). Specifically, we demonstrate that gambogic acid (GA) forms a covalent bond with the cysteine 284 residue of USP2 through an allosteric pocket, inhibiting its deubiquitinating activity.

Fiber reinforced polymer composites (FRPs) are essential for various industrial fields, but wrinkles inside will greatly reduce their mechanical properties. Full-matrix capture (FMC) is a popular data structure for ultrasonic phased array imaging in composites. However, such structure may lead to data redundancy and noise interference.

Background: Low maternal cognitive empathy and higher affective empathy have been linked to increased emotional-behavioral problems (EBPs) in young children, but it remains unclear whether the associations are distinct according to maternal depression. This study aims to explore the moderating role of maternal depression in the association between maternal empathy and EBPs in preschoolers.

Methods: Cross-sectional and representative data were from 19,965 Chinese preschoolers.

Article Synopsis
  • Radiotherapy resistance significantly impacts the treatment outcomes for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), highlighting the need to understand its underlying mechanisms.
  • Researchers identified GPR37 as a crucial factor that enhances radiosensitivity in ESCC, noting its low expression in radioresistant tumors correlating with worse patient prognosis.
  • GPR37 functions by interacting with ATP1A1 to promote its degradation, inhibiting the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, and can also be transferred to other cells via exosomes to reduce their malignant behavior, making it a promising therapeutic target to improve radiotherapy effectiveness.

Purpose: To analyze the safety of closed traction appliance in the treatment of impacted anterior teeth and its effect on pulp blood flow and masticatory function.

Methods: A total of 80 patients with impacted anterior teeth who received treatment from January 2017 to December 2022 were selected, and randomly divided into experimental group and control group with 40 cases in each group. The two groups of patients were treated with occlusion adjustment and orthodontic traction.

Article Synopsis
  • The process of biomemory involves electrical signal transmission between neurons, with ligand-gated ion channels playing a crucial role, while solid-state nanochannels mimic neuronal behavior for information transfer.
  • A functionalized nanochannel sensing system was developed using DNA aptamers to detect thrombin (Thr) with high sensitivity, achieving a low detection limit of 0.221 fM.
  • The system enables controlled release and cyclic response of molecules, linking memory storage with signal processing via a Thr-nanochannel logic gate, ultimately converting molecular events into electrical signals for potential biosensing applications.

Introduction: Long-distance robot teleoperation faces high latencies that pose cognitive challenges to human operators. Latency between command, execution, and feedback in teleoperation can impair performance and affect operators' mental state. The neural underpinnings of these effects are not well understood.

Due to the growing focus on daily hygiene practices, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), a widely used surfactant, is increasingly found in domestic sewage and rainfall runoff. Upon entering the lake-terrestrial ecotone, SDS affects the composition, abundance, and functional capacity of soil bacterial communities due to its bacteriostatic properties. To investigate the effects of long-term discharge of sewage containing low concentrations of SDS on microorganisms in the lake-terrestrial ecotone, alterations in bacterial community structure, functional genes, and biomass were examined using a simulated continuous pollutant input.

Although the therapeutic potential of microRNA-mediated gene regulation has been investigated, its precise functional regulatory mechanism in neuropathic pain remains incompletely understood. In this study, we elucidate that miR-216a-3p serves as a critical noncoding RNA involved in the modulation of trigeminal-mediated neuropathic pain. By conducting RNA-seq and qPCR analysis, we observed a notable decrease of miR-216a-3p in the injured trigeminal ganglia (TG) of male rats.

: Serosurveillance of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis (ECM) in healthy individuals is crucial for assessing disease risk and evaluating the effectiveness of vaccinations. However, this practical work is rare in China. : We conducted cross-section serosurveillance in Guangzhou, Zhanjiang, and Heyuan in Guangdong Province, measuring Anti-Nm IgG with serogroups A, C, Y, and W, and analyzed the trends using a generalized additive model (GAM).

This study aimed to evaluate the seroprevalence of and persistence of antibodies following vaccination. We recruited 6060 healthy subjects from five provinces of China during 2017-2018. Serum IgG antibodies against pertussis toxin (anti-PT IgG) and filamentous hemagglutinin (anti-FHA IgG), and serum IgA antibodies against pertussis toxin (anti-PT IgA) were measured by ELISA.

The step-drawdown pumping test often experiences a transition from confined to unconfined conditions due to the continuously increasing pumping rate. However, the current well hydraulics model has not accurately interpreted this phenomenon. In this study, we developed an analytical solution to address the confined-unconfined conversion in step-drawdown pumping tests based on Girinskii's potential and superposition theory.

Machine learning techniques have become increasingly important in analyzing single-cell RNA and identifying cell types, providing valuable insights into cellular development and disease mechanisms. However, the presence of batch effects poses major challenges in scRNA-seq analysis due to data distribution variation across batches. Although several batch effect mitigation algorithms have been proposed, most of them focus only on the correlation of local structure embeddings, ignoring global distribution matching and discriminative feature representation in batch correction.
