Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) constitute new class of materials recently used by researchers in the field of controlling cyanobacteria. However, the use of MOFs in combination with allelochemicals for cyanobacteria inhibition had not been investigated before. The present study is aimed towards the investigation of the effect and mechanism of cyanobacteria inhibition by combining MOF with allelochemical (ferulic acid, FA) for the first time.

Tetrabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-47) is widely used as commercial flame retardants that can be released into the environment and finally enter human body through the food chain. It has been identified to generate neurotoxicity, but little is known about auditory damage and the underlying mechanism following BDE-47 exposure. This study aimed to assess the cell viability with BDE-47 concentration ranging from 0 to 150 μM in mouse organ of Corti-derived cell lines (HEI-OC1).

In this article, we developed a novel ECL ratiometry on a closed bipolar electrode (BPE) for the sensitively and accurately detection of miRNA-21. High quantum yield and low toxicity BNQDs was synthesized and coated at BPE cathode as an ECL emitter, while the anode of BPE was calibrated via another ECL material, Ir(df-ppy)(pic) (Firpic). The electron neutrality at both ends of the BPE electrically coupled the reactions on each pole of the BPE.

As the key component of wireless data transmission and powering, stretchable antennas play an indispensable role in flexible/stretchable electronics. However, they often suffer from frequency detuning upon mechanical deformations; thus, their applications are limited to wireless sensing with wireless transmission capabilities remaining elusive. Here, a hierarchically structured stretchable microstrip antenna with meshed patterns arranged in an arched shape showcases tunable resonance frequency upon deformations with improved overall stretchability.

Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common extracranial solid malignancy in children and its mortality rate is relatively high. However, driver genes of NB are not clearly identified. Using bioinformatics analysis, we determined the top 8 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in NB, including GFAP, PAX6, FOXG1, GAD1, PTPRC, ISL1, GRM5, and GATA3.

Cadmium (Cd) exposure can exert an impact on carcinogenicity of breast cancer, however, the mechanism is not fully understood in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). We performed a TNBC MDA-MB-231 cell model and assessed the toxic effect of Cd exposure (0, 10, 20, 50, 60, 80 μM). Cd reduced cell viability in a time- and dose-dependent manner, followed by cell cycle arrest in S phase with alterations of cyclin 1A1, cyclin 1D1 and CDK2.

What Is Known And Objective: Anti-tuberculosis (anti-TB) drug-induced hepatotoxicity (ATDH) is a serious adverse drug reaction. A recent study found that the rs2011404 variant of uridine 5'-diphospho-glucuronosyl-transferase 1A4 (UGT1A4) is a marker of susceptibility to ATDH. The present study aimed to validate this relationship in an Eastern Chinese Han anti-TB treatment population.

Lumbar spinal fusion may cause adjacent segment degeneration (ASD) in the long term. Recently, inserting an interspinous process device (IPD) proximal to the fusion has been proposed to prevent ASD. The aim of this study was to investigate the biomechanics of lumbar fusion with proximal IPD implantation (LFPI) under both static loads and whole body vibration (WBV).

The ultimate application of bio-integrated, stretchable electronics hinges on the indispensable modules of stretchable wireless data transmission and power supplies. While radiofrequency (RF) antennas and rectennas could enable wireless communication and RF energy harvesting in the far-field, their performance deteriorates because of the frequency detuning from mechanical deformations. Here, stretchable wideband antennas and rectennas are introduced to robustly operate and combine received RF power over their wideband upon mechanical deformations.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the value of layer-specific strain analysis by two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI) in the assessment of myocardial toxicity in breast cancer patients receiving anthracycline chemotherapy.

Methods: Thirty-four breast cancer patients receiving anthracycline chemotherapy were prospectively enrolled. Conventional echocardiography and 2D-STI were evaluated at baseline after the third and sixth cycles of anthracycline chemotherapy.

Objectives: B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) is a neoplasm of precursor lymphoid cells committed to the B-lineage. Expression of CD5 is rare in B-ALL.

Methods: We studied the clinicopathologic, immunophenotypic, and molecular genetic features of 10 cases of B-ALL with aberrant CD5 expression, and compared with CD5-B-ALL.

Background: X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) affects up to 25% of boys diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency in childhood. Because early identification of these individuals can be lifesaving, all boys with new-onset primary adrenal insufficiency should be tested for ALD with a plasma very long-chain fatty acid (VLCFA) level. While plasma VLCFA is a diagnostic test with high sensitivity and specificity, false-positive results have been reported in individuals on a ketogenic diet.

Important strides have been made toward understanding the relationship between self-efficacy and life satisfaction. However, existing studies have largely focused on work and academic domains, leaving self-efficacy in the finance domain less frequently investigated. The present study applied the self-efficacy construct to the finance domain, namely "financial self-efficacy" (FSE), and tested the sequential mediating roles of high standards tendency and investment satisfaction in the relationship between FSE and general life satisfaction.

Objective: The association between UGT1A1*6/*28 polymorphisms and treatment outcomes of irinotecan in children remains unknown. This retrospective study investigated the influence of UGT1A1*6/*28 polymorphisms on irinotecan toxicity and survival of pediatric patients with relapsed/refractory solid tumors.

Methods: The present study enrolled a total of 44 patients aged younger than 18 years at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center between 2014 and 2017.

A radiative vapor condenser sheds heat in the form of infrared radiation and cools itself to below the ambient air temperature to produce liquid water from vapor. This effect has been known for centuries, and is exploited by some insects to survive in dry deserts. Humans have also been using radiative condensation for dew collection.

Tissue-based T cells are important effectors in the prevention and control of mucosal viral infections; less is known about tissue-based B cells. We demonstrate that B cells and antibody-secreting cells (ASCs) are present in inflammatory infiltrates in skin biopsy specimens from study participants during symptomatic herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2) reactivation and early healing. Both CD20+ B cells, most of which are antigen inexperienced based on their coexpression of IgD, and ASCs - characterized by dense IgG RNA expression in combination with CD138, IRF4, and Blimp-1 RNA - were found to colocalize with T cells.
