The toxicological effects of zinc oxide nanoparticles (nano-ZnOs) are related to their dissolution and interference with zinc ion homeostasis. High-soluble zinc sources may produce more severe and acute toxicity; however, the evaluation of potential toxicity of long-term exposure to nano-ZnOs and high-soluble sources of zinc remains obscure. This study aimed at evaluating effects of nano-ZnOs and zinc sulfate on development, serum and hematological parameters, and mineral concentrations in selected tissues and intestinal microbiota in mice via gastrointestinal administration for 7 weeks.

Novel Au@TiO plasmonic films were fabricated by individually placing Au nanoparticles into TiO nanocavity arrays through a sputtering and dewetting process. These discrete Au nanoparticles in TiO nanocavities showed strong visible-light absorption due to the plasmonic resonance. Photoelectrochemical studies demonstrated that the developed Au@TiO plasmonic films exhibited significantly enhanced catalytic activities toward oxygen reduction reactions with an onset potential of 0.

This study investigated the effect of resveratrol (RSV) on hepatic mitochondrial function in intrauterine growth-retarded (IUGR) suckling piglets.
Methods And Results: Seven normal birth weight (NBW) and fourteen IUGR neonatal male piglets were selected.
As our continuing research, a series of 2-aryl-8-OR-3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-2-ium bromides were evaluated for cytotoxic activity on cancer cells and apoptosis induction in the present study. SAR was derived also. Among them, 23 compounds showed the higher cytotoxicity on MKN-45 cells with IC values of 1.

Seven new neolignans (1-2, 7-11) and five known compounds (3-6, 12) were isolated from the 70% EtOH extract of hawthorn seeds. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analyses. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of all the isolates were investigated.

In the search for biologically active compounds from the roots of Bupleurum chinense D C., phytochemical investigation of its ethanol extract led to the isolation and identification of a new 8-O-4' neolignan glucoside, saikolignanoside A (1), along with eight known lignans (2-9). Their structures were determined on the basis of IR, UV, HRESIMS, and NMR spectroscopic analyses.

Cell block (CB), prepared by collecting residual cytological specimen, represents a novel method to supplement the diagnosis of endometrial cytology. This study aimed to compare the specimen adequacy and diagnostic accuracy of LBC and CB in the diagnosis of endometrial lesions.

Although it possesses powerful antitumor activity, its clinical application is seriously encumbered by its unselective distribution and systemic toxicities, particularly myocardial toxicity. Thus, it is imperative to modify Dox to decrease its systemic toxicities and improve its therapeutic index.

By using the mycelium growth rate method, the compounds were evaluated for antifungal activity against three plant pathogenic fungi and structure-activity relationships (SAR) were derived. The vast majority of the compounds displayed the medium to high activity with inhibition rates of 50-100% at 150μM.

By using the mycelium growth rate method, the compounds were evaluated for antifungal activities in vitro against six plant pathogenic fungi, and structure-activity relationships (SAR) were derived. Almost all of the compounds showed obvious inhibition activity on each of the fungi at 150 μM.

The highly efficient and direct asymmetric reductive amination of arylacetones catalyzed by an iridium complex for the preparation of enantiomerically pure β-arylamines is described. The monodentate phosphoramidite ligand exhibits superb reactivity (TONs of up to 20 000) and enantioselectivity (up to 99 % ee). Additives played important roles in this reductive coupling reaction.

Alternatively, theories of group formation suggest that new and longer tenured teams experience greater team psychological safety climate than moderately tenured teams. Adopting this second perspective, we used a sample of 115 research and development teams and found that team tenure had a curvilinear relationship with team psychological safety climate and climate strength.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFTreatment of thyroid cancer has incurred much focus because of its high prevalency. As a new strategy treating thyroid cancer, hyperthermia takes several advantages compared with surgery or chemotherapy, including minimal invasion, low systematic toxicity and the ability to enhance the immunogenicity of cancer cells with the expression Hsp70 which serves as Toll-like receptors-4 (TLR-4 agonist). However, Hsp70 as a molecular chaperone can protect cells from heat induced apoptosis and therefore compromise the tumor killing effect of hyperthermia.

Cytoskeleton plays an importance role in vascular endothelial permeability barrier and inflammatory response. Many Chinese herbs have the endothelial protective effect, of which, "Astragalus membranaceus" is a highly valued herb for treatment of cardiovascular and renal diseases in traditional Chinese medicine, In this study, we tested whether calycosin-7-O-β-D-glucoside (Calycosin), a main effective monomer component of "Astragalus membranaceus", could protect endothelial cells from bacterial endotoxin (LPS)-induced cell injury.
