Aims: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between visceral adipose tissue (VAT), measured using a body shape index (ABSI), and outcomes in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
Methods: ABSI data and cardiovascular outcomes were obtained from the Treatment of Preserved Cardiac Function Heart Failure with an Aldosterone Antagonist (TOPCAT) trial. ABSI was calculated using waist circumference (WC), body mass index, and height.
Graph neural networks (GNNs) have achieved remarkable advances in graph-oriented tasks. However, real-world graphs invariably contain a certain proportion of heterophilous nodes, challenging the homophily assumption of traditional GNNs and hindering their performance. Most existing studies continue to design generic models with shared weights between heterophilous and homophilous nodes.

Both morphological and molecular data support the validity of The new species can be distinguished from congeners by the following combination of characteristics: whole body except for head and area between pectoral-fin and pelvic-fin origin sparsely covered with minute scales; barbels elongate; five or six branched pectoral-fin rays and four branched pelvic-fin rays; vertebrae 4+42. Maximum-likelihood and Bayesian-inference phylogenetic trees exhibited congruent topological structures, exhibiting high node support for the monophyly of (BPP = 1; BS = 100), which was clustered with the other congeners.

However, the specific characteristics of the immune microenvironment and their clinical significance remain poorly understood.
Methods: This study included 93 paraffin-embedded tissue samples from 90 patients diagnosed with CNS GCTs.
Background: Obtaining accurate segmentation regions for liver cancer is of paramount importance for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of the disease. In recent years, a large number of variants of deep learning based liver cancer segmentation methods have been proposed to assist radiologists. Due to the differences in characteristics between different types of liver tumors and data imbalance, it is difficult to train a deep model that can achieve accurate segmentation for multiple types of liver cancer.

Methods: We defined an immunosenescence gene set (ISGS) and examined it across 33 TCGA tumor types and 29 GTEx normal tissues.
Numerous studies have substantiated the pivotal role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and the prognosis of afflicted patients. Notably, individuals with NSCLC may exhibit heightened vulnerability to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), resulting in a more unfavorable prognosis subsequent to infection. Nevertheless, the impact of COVID-19-related lncRNAs on NSCLC remains unexplored.

MI/RI may be alleviated by protecting cardiomyocytes from oxidative stress. Lutein, which belongs to a class of carotenoids, has proven to be effective in cardiovascular disease treatment due to its remarkable antioxidant properties, but its application is limited due to its poor stability and low bioavailability in vivo.

Our studies indicate that the bone mineral density (BMD) in the screw trajectory is a better predictor of screw loosening than the BMD of the lumbar spine or the screw insertion position. Research has shown that anchorage on the screw tip is the most significant factor for screw anchorage ability, while others argue that decreased bony quality in the pedicle poses a significant risk for screw loosening.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo new species of the genus from southwestern Guizhou Province, China, are described. These are Wu, Luo, Xiao & Zhou, and Lan, Liu, Zhou & Zhou, from Maoying Town, Ziyun County, Guizhou Province, China. Wu, Luo, Xiao & Zhou, is distinguished from other hypogean species of the genus by having a combination of the following characteristics: body naked, scaleless, pigmented markings on surface of body, except ventral; eyes reduced, diameter 2.

It is distinguished from congeners by the following combination of morphological features: no obvious anterior notch on the tip of the upper lip; 45-52 lateral-line scales; 18-21 pre-dorsal scales; two rows of pharyngeal teeth; a maxillary extending to or slightly beyond the vertical anterior margin of the orbit in adult males; a pectoral fin extending to the pelvic fin in adult males; nuptial tubercles on the cheeks and lower jaw of males, which are usually united basally to form a plate; uniform narrow pale pink cross-bars on trunk and two widening significantly on caudal peduncle. Its validity was also supported by its distinct Cyt gene sequence divergence from all congeners and its monophyly recovered in a Cyt gene-based phylogenetic analysis.

Aerosol-transmitted viruses possess strong infectivity and can spread over long distances, earning the difficult-to-control title. They cause various human diseases and pose serious threats to human health. Mutations can increase the transmissibility and virulence of the strains, reducing the protection provided by vaccines and weakening the efficacy of antiviral drugs.

Background: Poly-victimization involves more than just counting incidents; it varies in severity and type among adolescents and can change over time.
Objective: The aim is to identify latent classes of poly-victimization among children in early adolescence, investigate transition probabilities between these latent categories, and examine the influencing factors.
Methods: We used stratified cluster random sampling to select 2275 junior high students from five rural middle schools in Shantou and Jieyang, China, and surveyed them in two waves.
Background: School bullying, a serious problem for the physical and mental health of adolescents, is presently a significant issue in China. It is essential to recognize and comprehend potential risk factors and establish efficient preventive strategies. The purpose of this study was to examine the association between childhood maltreatment and school bullying in adolescents and to assess the mediating role of peer relationships.

Background: Poly-victimization (PV) not only threatens physical and mental health but also causes a range of social problems. Left-behind children in rural areas are more likely to experience PV problems. However, there have been fewer studies on PV among rural children, and even fewer intervention studies.

Single-cell transcriptomic profiling was used to ascertain the heterogeneity of AHR expression in human B cell subpopulations. We identified a unique population of B cells marked by expression of AHR, CD9, and myeloid genes such as CD14 and CXCL8.

During the field surveys in 2023, two specimens (one female and one male) were collected from central eastern Yunnan (Shilin, Kunming, Yunnan, China).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFReal-world graphs exhibit increasing heterophily, where nodes no longer tend to be connected to nodes with the same label, challenging the homophily assumption of classical graph neural networks (GNNs) and impeding their performance. Intriguingly, from the observation of heterophilous data, we notice that certain high-order information exhibits higher homophily, which motivates us to involve high-order information in node representation learning. However, common practices in GNNs to acquire high-order information mainly through increasing model depth and altering message-passing mechanisms, which, albeit effective to a certain extent, suffer from three shortcomings: (1) over-smoothing due to excessive model depth and propagation times; (2) high-order information is not fully utilized; (3) low computational efficiency.

The use of agrochemical inputs has significantly enhanced agricultural yields in China; however, their excessive utilization has also caused a range of environmental issues. This paper examines the costs associated with reducing agrochemicals by employing shadow prices, which represent the value of the marginal product of agrochemicals, to further develop cost-effective environmental policy measures for reducing their usage. To this end, the shadow prices of agrochemicals have been assessed by adopting a newly developed convex expectile regression approach and using statistical data from 31 provinces in China spanning from 2005 to 2020.
