Background: This study aimed to identify shared and distinct prognostic factors related to organ-specific metastases (liver, lung, bone, and brain) in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) patients, then construct nomograms for survival prediction.

Methods: Patient data for ES-SCLC were from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database from 2010 to 2019. Kaplan-Meier analysis was applied to estimate overall survival (OS), and Cox regression was used to identify prognostic factors.

Background: Metrnl play an immunocytokine-like role in several diseases, which is also known as meteorin-like because it is homologous to the neurotrophic factor meteorin (Metrn). Although the expression and function of Metrnl, including neurotrophic, immunomodulatory, and insulin resistance functions in different tissues have been extensively studied, its role in sepsis has remained largely limited.

Methods: The present work analyzed the levels of Metrnl and cytokines in the circulation, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), interleukin (IL-1)β, IL-6, IL-8, together with IL-10 among septic adult patients.

Purpose: The goal of this study was to create a cleaning procedure by comparing the performance of six different cleaning methods on the surfaces in pharmacy intravenous admixture service (PIVAS) work area.

Method: A stainless steel plate was simulating contaminated by gemcitabine, cyclophosphamide, epirubicin, etoposide, and paclitaxel, which was then dried and cleaned by per current cleaning protocols. The residues were collected and quantified by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS).

Background/aim: We aimed to identify the differentially expressing metabolites (DEMs) in the muscles of the mouse model of sepsis-induced acquired weakness (sepsis-AW) using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS).

Materials And Methods: Sepsis by cecal ligation puncture (CLP) with lower limb immobilization was used to produce a sepsis-AW model. After this, the grip strength of the C57BL/6 male mice was investigated.

Objective: Interleukin-38 (IL-38), a new type of cytokine, is involved in processes such as tissue repair, inflammatory response, and immune response. However, its function in pneumonia caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) is still unclear.

Background: In this study, we aimed to establish and validate a mathematical diagnosis model to distinguish benign pulmonary nodules (BPNs) from early non-small cell lung cancer (eNSCLC) based on clinical characteristics, radiomics features, and hematological biomarkers.

Methods: Medical records from 81 patients (27 BPNs, 54 eNSCLC) were used to establish a novel mathematical diagnosis model and an additional 61 patients (21 BPNs, 40 eNSCLC) were used to validate this new model. To establish a clinical diagnosis model, a least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression was applied to select predictors for eNSCLC, then multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to determine independent predictors of the probability of eNSCLC, and to establish a clinical diagnosis model.

Background: In recent studies, microRNAs have been demonstrated as stable detectable biomarkers in blood for cancer. In addition, computer-aided biomarker discovery has now become an attractive paradigm for precision diagnosis.

Methods: In this study, we identified and evaluated miR-139-3p as a biomarker for screening of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma using the Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus database analyses.

An immunoaffinity cleanup-high performance liquid chromatography (IAC-HPLC) method was established for the simultaneous determination of residues of six zeranols (alphazeranol, beta-zeranol, alpha-zearalenol, beta-zearalenol, zearalanone and zearalenone) in eggs. The enzymolyzed samples were extracted with methyl tert-butyl ether, and subsequently reextracted with a sodium hydroxide solution. After the pH value was adjusted to 7, the extract was cleaned up on an immunoaffinity column.
