Single-atom nanozymes (SAzymes) have drawn ever-increasing attention due to their maximum atom utilization efficiency and enhanced enzyme-like activity. Herein, a facile pyrolysis strategy is reported for the synthesis of the iron-nitrogen-carbon (Fe-N-C) SAzyme using ferrocene trapped within porous zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8@Fc) as a precursor. The as-prepared Fe-N-C SAzyme exhibited exceptional oxidase-mimicking activity, catalytically oxidizing 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) with high affinity () and fast reaction rate ().

Nanozymes, which combine the merits of both nanomaterials and natural enzymes, have aroused tremendous attention as new representatives of artificial enzyme mimics. However, it still remains to be a great challenge to rationally engineer the morphologies and surface properties of nanostructures that lead to the desired enzyme-like activities. Here, we report a DNA-programming seed-growth strategy to mediate the growth of platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) on gold bipyramids (AuBPs) for the synthesis of a bimetallic nanozyme.

Photonic sensors that are able to detect and track biochemical molecules offer powerful tools for information acquisition in applications ranging from environmental analysis to medical diagnosis. The ultimate aim of biochemical sensing is to achieve both quantitative sensitivity and selectivity. As atomically thick films with remarkable optoelectronic tunability, graphene and its derived materials have shown unique potential as a chemically tunable platform for sensing, thus enabling significant performance enhancement, versatile functionalization and flexible device integration.

Background/aims: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a malignant and aggressive central nervous system (CNS) tumor with high mortality and low survival rate. Effective treatment of GMB is a challenge worldwide. Temozolomide (TMZ) is a drug used to treat GBM, while the survival period of GBM patients with positive treatment remains less than 15 months.

Objective: To observe the effect of RITA, a small molecule that targets p53, combined with temozolomide (TMZ) on proliferation, colony formation and apoptosis of human glioblastoma U87 cells and explore the underlying mechanism.

Methods: Cultured U87 cells were treated with RITA (1, 5, 10, 20 µmol/L), TMZ, or RITA+TMZ (half dose) for 24, 48 or 72 h. MTS assay were used to detect the cell proliferation, and the cell proliferation rate and inhibitory rate were calculated.
