Aims: Recent studies have shown that extracellular volume (ECV) can also be obtained without blood sampling by the linear relationship between haematocrit (HCT) and blood pool R1 (1/T1). However, whether this relationship holds for patients with myocardial infarction is still unclear. This study established and validated an ECV model without blood sampling in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients.

In this work, a magnetic imidazole zeolite backbone compounded with three-dimensional graphene was successfully synthesized as a solid adsorbent using a layer-by-layer self-assembly technique, which can rapidly and effectively adsorb caffeine from tea. Meanwhile, the structure and properties of caffeine in tea were investigated by various physicochemical characterization tools.

The authors hypothesized that dynamic compliance-guided PEEP could also reduce postoperative atelectasis in patients undergoing bariatric surgery.
Methods: Patients scheduled to undergo laparoscopic bariatric surgery were eligible.
The aim of this study was to observe changes in different components (solid, cystic airspace, or entire tumor) in lung cancer associated with cystic airspace following treatment with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NC), using computerized tomography (CT). We analyzed serial (baseline, first-time follow-up, and last-time follow-up) clinical data and CT imaging in six patients treated with NC. The diameters, areas, and volumes of different tumor components (solid, cystic airspace, and entire tumor) were measured.

Methods: In this retrospective analysis, 27 primary lung cancer patients confirmed by pathological examination were enrolled between December 2018 and February 2019. All patients underwent baseline arterial phase (AP) and venous phase (VP) energy spectral CT scanning followed by surgery in our institution.
As persistent organic pollutants, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes (DDTs) and their metabolites pose considerable risks to human health and the environment. Therefore, monitoring DDTs in the environment is essential. Here, we developed a green, simple, and effective magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) method coupled with gas chromatography tandem triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry to determine the DDT content of environmental water samples.

A total of 8,626 patients (4,284 men and 4,342 women) who underwent DSCT examinations were enrolled. The presence of ASA was defined as the protrusion of the complete or partial interatrial septum with a maximum vertical distance (MVD) from the atrial septum plane of >10 mm during a cardiac cycle and a diameter of the aneurysm base of >15 mm.
