Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a highly disabling disease of the central nervous system, and seriously affects the patients' quality of life. A large number of studies have shown that programmed cell death (PCD) is an important pathological mechanism of secondary injury in SCI. As a non-drug therapy, acupuncture therapy has the characteristics of bidirectional, holistic and multi-level actions, which can target PCD pathways to play a neuroprotective effect, and has great potential in regulating PCD in the treatment of SCI.

Acupuncture is an effective method for the treatment of cancer pain, which has the advantages of simple operation, quick effect and fewer side effects, and is widely used in clinic. In this paper, we reviewed the relevant literature on the mechanisms of acupuncture in the treatment of cancer pain both at home and abroad in recent years, and summarized the analgesic mechanisms of acupuncture for cancer pain from the peripheral level and the central level.

Methods: Fifty-four SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation, model, and EA groups (=18 in each group), which were further divided into 3 d, 7 d and 14 d subgroups, with 6 rats at each time point. The SCI model was established according to the Allen's method.
The "brain electric field" therapy is a novel electroacupuncture method created by Professor to treat cerebral infarction in the recovery period. This therapy is suitable for the treatment of motor disorders, sensory disorders, cognitive disorders, hemianopsia and bulbar paralysis during the recovery period of cerebral infarction. Based on the different symptoms, the corresponding brain functional areas are selected, supplemented with Taiyang 2, Tunyan 2, Tiyan, Gongxue and Xiatianzhu.

The nervous, endocrine and immune systems are interconnected through neurotransmitters, endocrine hormones and cytokines, forming a neuro-endocrine-immune (NEI) network that outputs effect information to target organs in a multi-level and multi-system manner. The effects of acupuncture can be amplified through the NEI network, causing local microenvironment responses at acupoints to treat post-stroke depression (PSD). This paper systematically elucidates the mechanisms of acupuncture treatment for PSD from three aspects: nervous, endocrine and immune, and reveals the potential mechanisms and biological pathways of acupuncture treatment for PSD from an overall perspective based on the NEI network, aiming to provide a reliable theoretical basis for fundamental research on acupuncture treatment for PSD.

CFS is defined by its persistent or recurrent manifestation for a minimum duration of six months, marked by an enduring and unrelenting fatigue that remains refractory to rest. In recent decades, this condition has garnered significant attention within the medical community.

Methods: Male SD rats were randomly divided into control, model and EA groups (=12 rats in each group). The CFS model was established by chronic multifactor combined with stress stimulation (treadmill training + restraint stress + sleep disturbance + crowded environment).
Objectives: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the changes of behavior and hippocampal inflammatory factors in rats with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), so as to explore its possible mechanisms in the treatment of CFS.
Methods: Twenty-seven SD rats were randomly divided into control, model and electroacupuncture (EA) groups (=9 rats in each group). The CFS model was established by multi-factor compound stress stimulation method.
Objectives: To observe the changes in the regional homogeneity (ReHo) and functional brain network in treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) with anxiety and depression comorbidity with the mind-regulation electroacupuncture (EA), using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI).
Methods: Thirty CFS patients with anxiety and depression comorbidity were enrolled from medical staffs as the observation group. The other 30 healthy subjects were recruited from medical university students as the control group, matching gender, age and education years with the observation group.
Objectives: The presence of intestinal flora in the gut has been linked to migraines in recent studies, but whether the association is causal or due to bias remains to be clarified. We aimed to explore whether there is a potential causal relationship between gut microbiota and migraine risk with this study.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomized analysis study to explore whether gut microbiota has a causal relationship with migraine using publicly available data from large-scale genome-wide association studies.

The academic thoughts of professor regarding the use of electroacupuncture in the treatment of dry eye are introduced. Professor believes that the occurrence of dry eye is mainly related to the stagnation of and blood in the eye meridians, leading to inadequate nourishment of the eyes. The acupuncture treatment principle focuses on promoting blood circulation, clearing and benefiting the eye orifices.

Methods: Forty-eight male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to control group (Con), CFS model group (Mod, established by multiple chronic stress for 35 d), MoxA group (CFS model with moxibustion Shenque (CV8) and Guanyuan (CV4), 10 min/d, 28 d) and MoxB group (CFS model with moxibustion Zusanli (ST36), 10 min/d, 28 d). Open-field test (OFT) and Morris-water-maze test (MWMT) were determined for assessment the CFS model and the therapeutic effects of moxibustion.
Objective: The study aims to investigate and visualize the hotspots of acupuncture for Allergic rhinitis (AR) over the past two decades and pinpoint future trends in this field.
Method: We conducted a systematic search of English-language articles or reviews on acupuncture for AR in the Web of Science Core Collection from 2002 to 2022. Using Citespace, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix, we analyzed and visualized the publications, countries, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords from various angles.

This review summarizes the basic research literature of acupuncture-moxibustion for PI and identifies that the mechanism of acupuncture-moxibustion for PI is related with regulation of related signaling pathway target proteins, improvement of inflammatory response, modulation of vascular microenvironment, attenuation of oxidative stress damage, and inhibition of cell apoptosis. The review also points out the current limitations and future research directions.

In recent 10 years, the research on the mechanisms of acupuncture in treating AR mainly focused on humoral immunity, cellular immunity, cell apoptosis, inflammatory mediators and factors, neuropeptides, etc. By regulating the level of immunoglobulin in the blood, acupuncture intervention can restore the relative balance of cellular immune response, reduce the accumulation of eosinophils and promote apoptosis, down-regulate the expression of related inflammatory mediators and factors, regulate the excitability of related nerves, modulate the release of neuropeptides and other ways to diminish the inflammatory reaction of nasal mucosa, and enhance the repair and protection of nasal mucosa, relieve the nasal symptoms at last.
