Sleep monitoring by polysomnography (PSG) severely degrades sleep quality. In order to reduce the load of sleep monitoring, an approach to automatic sleep stage classification without an electroencephalogram (EEG) was proposed.A total of 124 records from the public dataset ISRUC-Sleep incorporating American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards were used: 10 records were from the healthy group while the others were from sleep disorder groups.

The effects of scopolamine on the survival time and microcirculation of septic shock rats.

Introduction: Shock has been established as a disorder of the microcirculation. Despite various treatments, the mortality rate of infectious shocks remains 30-50%. The study was designed to explore the effects of scopolamine on the survival time, microcirculation and inflammatory cytokine secretion in rats with septic shock.

Comparison of two different models of sepsis induced by cecal ligation and puncture in rats.

Background: The present study was designed to explore the difference between two rat models of sepsis and to establish a more stable rat model.

Materials And Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: sham operation group, simple cecal ligation and perforation group (SCLP), and cecal ligation perforation plus drainage group (CLP-DS). The general condition of the rats was observed, and the time of death and survival rate at 72 h were recorded.

Gastrointestinal Congestion Dilates the Hepatic Artery Through the P38 MAPK Signal Transduction Pathway During Liver Transplantation.

During the neohepatic stage of liver transplantation, hemodynamics change markedly. The current study aimed to investigate whether gastrointestinal congestion caused by inferior vena cava and hepatic portal vein clamping can dilate the hepatic artery and to determine the associated mechanisms. Ring segments of the hepatic artery were treated with the plasma from gastrointestinal congestion or the superior vena cava.

We describe a case of airway obstruction in a neonate by a velar cyst (a cyst located on the soft palate). We were unable to ventilate the infant's lungs until the cyst was punctured with a syringe.

Vasoplegic syndrome during liver transplantation.

A 56-yr-old woman with chronic hepatitis B and decompensated hepatic cirrhosis was treated with liver transplantation. At the beginning of the neohepatic phase, her arterial blood pressure remained at 60/40 mm Hg for approximately 40 min and did not respond to vasoconstrictive drugs. Her other clinical and laboratory values remained normal, apart from a high cardiac output and low systemic vascular resistance.

Thirty-five percent oxygen pre-conditioning protects PC12 cells against death induced by hypoxia.

The present study is designed to investigate the effect of pre-conditioning with 35% O2 on PC12 cell death induced by hypoxia. This study investigated whether 35% O2 pre-conditioning for 3 h, followed by 12 h recovery, can protect PC12 cells against death induced by subsequent exposure to hypoxia for 72 h. The result showed that pre-conditioning with 35% O2 partly blocked the decrease in 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) reduction induced by hypoxia in PC12 cells.
