The effects of rosmarinic acid (RosA) on osteoarthritis (OA) was investigated in rat chondrocytes. Chondrocytes were isolated from rat cartilage, incubated with RosA in the presence of interleukin-1beta (IL-1β) (10 ng/ml). The production of IL-6, as well as the mRNA level of aggrecan (ACAN) and collagen 2 (COL2), were assessed.

Methods: Polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting were performed to evaluate the expression of a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs (ADAMTS)-5, ADAMTS-4, collagen II, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-13 and MMP-1 at both the gene and protein levels, respectively.

Packaging materials have a great impact on the performance and reliability of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). In this study, we have prepared high performance LED devices through encapsulating LEDs by epoxy materials incorporated with filler powders. A set of evaluation methods have also been established to characterize the reliability of LED devices.
