LncRNA NCK1-AS1 Promotes Cancer Cell Proliferation and Increase Cell Stemness in Urinary Bladder Cancer Patients by Downregulating miR-143.

Background: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play critical and complex roles in regulating various biological processes of cancers. Our study aimed to investigate the involvement of lncRNA NCK1-AS1 in urinary bladder cancer (UBC).

Methods: qRT-PCR was used to detect the expression of lncRNA NCK1-AS1 and miR-143 in UBC tissues and cells.

Anti-tumor effect of ribavirin in combination with interferon-α on renal cell carcinoma cell lines in vitro.

Background: Ribavirin is an anti-viral drug; however, recent data suggest that it may also be effective in cancer therapy. This study investigated the effect of ribavirin alone or in combination with IFN-α on biological processes: proliferation, apoptosis, and migration of murine (Renca) and human renal carcinoma (RCC) cells (786-0) in vitro.

Methods: Renca and 786-0 cells were treated with IFN-α, ribavirin, or a combination of IFN-α and ribavirin at varying concentrations.

Pirin down-regulates the EAF2/U19 protein and alleviates its growth inhibition in prostate cancer cells.

Background: The tumor suppressor ELL associated factor 2 (EAF2/U19) has been reported to induce apoptosis of LNCaP cells and suppress AT6.1 xenograft prostate tumor growth. EAF2/U19 expression level is down-regulated in advanced human prostate cancer.
