Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) have emerged as promising platforms for photocatalytic synthesis of hydrogen peroxide (HO) due to their tunable chemical compositions and efficient catalytic functionalities. Inspired by the role of the microenvironment in enzyme catalysis, this study introduces various N-heterocyclic species into β-ketoenamine COFs (N-COFs, where N represents the number of nitrogen atoms in the N-heterocycle) to regulate the microenvironment around catalytic sites on acceptor-donor-acceptor (A-D-A) COFs foroverall HO photosynthesis in pure water. The N-COFs exhibit distinct HO photosynthetic rates following the number of nitrogen atoms sequence of N-COF > N-COF > N-COF > N-COF, with N-COF with triazine structure showing the highest HO generation rate (4881 µmol h g) and the decent solar-to-chemical conversion (SCC) efficiency (0.

MUC7, a highly glycosylated protein in saliva and respiratory tract, plays potential roles in facilitating bacterial clearance and preventing microbial invasion. The complexity of glycan structures and multiplicity of glycosylation sites of MUC7 make it very difficult to explore accurate biofunctions against pathogens. Here, we report an efficiently convergent chemoenzymatic approach to firstly synthesize highly O-glycosylated MUC7 glycopeptides with nine glycosylation sites bearing various glycoforms via the combined use of hydrophobic tag-assisted liquid-phase peptide synthesis and enzymatic-catalyzed glycan elongation.

MYB-related (MYBR) proteins play diverse roles in plant growth and development. However, the MYBR genes in Taraxacum kok-saghyz, a promising alternative source of natural rubber, a valuable biopolymer, remain scarcely investigated. Here, a total of 122 MYBR genes, namely TkMYBRs, were identified and classified into the groups of GARP-like, CCA1-like/R-R, and a heterogenous one in T.

Zinc plays a central role in the hematological development. Therapeutic interventions with zinc are shown to improve the health status of patients with malignancies by stimulating the immune system and reducing side effects. Despite the abnormal zinc homeostasis in leukemia, the role and mechanisms of zinc signaling in leukemia development remain poorly understood.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a prominent neurodegenerative disorder affecting the central nervous system in the elderly. Current understanding of AD primarily centers on the gradual decline in cognitive and memory functions, believed to be influenced by factors including mitochondrial dysfunction, β-amyloid aggregation, and neuroinflammation. Emerging research indicates that neuroinflammation plays a significant role in the development of AD, with the inflammasome potentially mediating inflammatory responses that contribute to neurodegeneration.

Cholecystokinin (CCK) is a major neuropeptide in the brain that functions as a neurotransmitter, hormone, and growth factor. The peptide and its receptors are widely expressed in the brain. CCK signaling modulates synaptic plasticity and can improve or impair memory formation, depending on the brain areas studies and the receptor subtype activated.

Covalent-organic frameworks (COFs), characterized by their exceptional light absorption and ordered architecture, have emerged as potential candidates for photocatalytic hydrogen production. In this work, we discovered that the incorporation of fluorine into the sub-nanocavity of azine-linked COF (TF-COF) not only augments its hydrophobicity but also strengthens the interaction between Pt cocatalysts and COFs. In an effort to enhance photocatalytic water splitting efficiency, we integrated the hydrophobic TF-COF with the hydrophilic carbon nitride (CN) to construct a hydrophilic/hydrophobic heterojunction (CTF-x heterojunction).

Neural machine interface technology is a pioneering approach that aims to address the complex challenges of neurological dysfunctions and disabilities resulting from conditions such as congenital disorders, traumatic injuries, and neurological diseases. Neural machine interface technology establishes direct connections with the brain or peripheral nervous system to restore impaired motor, sensory, and cognitive functions, significantly improving patients' quality of life. This review analyzes the chronological development and integration of various neural machine interface technologies, including regenerative peripheral nerve interfaces, targeted muscle and sensory reinnervation, agonist-antagonist myoneural interfaces, and brain-machine interfaces.

Periampullary malignancies are uncommon and encompass a wide variety of tumors. Early and accurate biopsy-proven diagnosis is important because different malignancy subtypes warrant different management and treatment plans. We present a unique and rare case of periampullary lymphoma, initially presenting as acute pancreatitis.

Nanofiltration (NF) for treatments of pharmaceutical wastewater is a promising direction for water protection and resources recovery. Herein, a novel membrane with heterogeneously charged channels was constructed by modified layer-by-layer assembly methods. Within the well-designed pores, the polyanion structure excludes the cephalexin and the cationic structure slows down its diffusion, thereby rejections for cephalexin are improved.

Screening of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors is a common strategy in drug discovery for treating Alzheimer's disease. Herein, AChE was immobilized onto magnetic polyethyleneimine-based MXene aerogels through both electrostatic interactions and covalent bonds, enabling its application in AChE activity assays and inhibitor screening of herbal plants. The composite was analyzed using a range of techniques, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and Zeta potential analysis, to gain insight into its chemical and physical properties.
