Extracting uranium from seawater is crucial for tapping oceanic resources vital to future energy supply. This study synthesized a novel nitrogen vacancy carbon nitride (NCN) grafted polyethyleneimine (PEI) composite material (NCNP). Experiments and molecular dynamics simulations reveal that NCNP effectively hinders the diffusion of uranyl ions (UO ) to the NCN surface, thereby inhibiting electron transfer reactions.

Sorting nexin 4 (SNX4) plays a regulatory role in recycling from endosomes to the plasma membrane and promotes autophagosome assembly and transport, which may exert the cancerous growth and progression. This study aimed to assess the biological role of SNX4 in ccRCC and their clinical association via public biological data platforms combined with experimental verification.

Due to the benefits of less invasiveness and fewer complications of internal fixation, the application of small-diameter headless compression screws (HCSs) to treat RHFs has become a new trend. This study aimed to compare the mechanical stability of four distinct internal fixation protocols for transversely unstable RHFs via finite element analysis.

Potential health risks related to environmental endocrine disruptors (EEDs) have aroused research hotspots at the forefront of water treatment technologies. Herein, nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide/schwertmannite nanocomposites (N-TiO/SCH) have been successfully developed as heterogeneous catalysts for the degradation of typical EEDs via photo-Fenton processes. Due to the sustainable Fe(III)/Fe(II) conversion induced by photoelectrons, as-prepared N-TiO/SCH nanocomposites exhibit much enhanced efficiency for the degradation of bisphenol A (BPA; ca.

To elevate the safety profile of CAR-T cells, an affinity/avidity fine-tuned CAR was designed enabling CAR-T cell activation only in the presence of a highly expressed tumor associated antigen (TAA) but not when recognizing the same antigen at a physiological level on healthy cells. Using direct stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (dSTORM) which provides single-molecule resolution, and flow cytometry, we identified high carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) density on clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) patient samples and low-density expression on healthy bile duct tissues.

Melon fly attractants could improve the effectiveness of current pest management measures. Previous studies have shown that some host fruits are attractive to melon flies but few have investigated the chemical compounds responsible for their attraction.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOpen-set object detection (OSOD) aims to detect the known categories and reject unknown objects in a dynamic world, which has achieved significant attention. However, previous approaches only consider this problem in data-abundant conditions, while neglecting the few-shot scenes. In this paper, we seek a solution for the generalized few-shot open-set object detection (G-FOOD), which aims to avoid detecting unknown classes as known classes with a high confidence score while maintaining the performance of few-shot detection.

Methods: Patients aged 18-70 years diagnosed with moderate-to-severe atrophy and/or moderate-to-severe intestinal metaplasia, with or without low-grade dysplasia, and negative for Helicobacter pylori were recruited in this randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled trial. The primary outcome was the improvement of global histological diagnosis at 1-year follow-up endoscopy using the operative link for gastritis assessment, the operative link for gastric intestinal metaplasia assessment, and the disappearance rate of dysplasia.

Background: With potential of deep learning in musculoskeletal image interpretation being explored, this paper focuses on the common site of rotator cuff tears, the supraspinatus. It aims to propose and validate a deep learning model to automatically extract the supraspinatus, verifying its superiority through comparison with several classical image segmentation models.
Method: Imaging data were retrospectively collected from 60 patients who underwent inpatient treatment for rotator cuff tears at a hospital between March 2021 and May 2023.

Background: C urea breath test (C UBT) and immunohistochemical staining (IHC) are widely used for detection () infection with different sensitivity, and there is a difference in infection rate in Uyghur and Han ethnic groups. Both need large cohort studies to evaluate the differences more accurately.
Aim: To analyze the difference between C UBT and IHC for detection in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and the difference between Uyghur and Han populations.

Context modeling or multi-level feature fusion methods have been proved to be effective in improving semantic segmentation performance. However, they are not specialized to deal with the problems of pixel-context mismatch and spatial feature misalignment, and the high computational complexity hinders their widespread application in real-time scenarios. In this work, we propose a lightweight Context and Spatial Feature Calibration Network (CSFCN) to address the above issues with pooling-based and sampling-based attention mechanisms.

This report analyzed the efficiency and side effects of various ventilation techniques used for individuals experiencing an acute COPD exacerbation.
Aim: To determine whether pressure-controlled ventilation (PCV) can lower peak airway pressures (PAPs) and reduce the incidence of barotrauma compared to volume-controlled ventilation (VCV), without compromising clinical outcomes and oxygenation parameters.

Foamed lightweight concrete has been applied in different fields of civil engineering because of its superior properties, but the related research considering internal pore damage is limited. Based on statistical damage theory and considering the uneven distribution of fracture damage and strength between the pores of light concrete, a damage constitutive model of foamed lightweight concrete was established based on the Weibull function. The parameters of the damage model were determined through a triaxial compression test, and the rationality was verified by combining the existing test data.

Automatic medical report generation based on deep learning can improve the efficiency of diagnosis and reduce costs. Although several automatic report generation algorithms have been proposed, there are still two main challenges in generating more detailed and accurate diagnostic reports: using multi-view images reasonably and integrating visual and semantic features of key lesions effectively. To overcome these challenges, we propose a novel automatic report generation approach.

To overcome the limitations of the original antlion optimizer (ALO) algorithm, the chaotic Gaussian mutation strategy is introduced, which leads to an improvement in its convergence speed and accuracy.

Single-molecule characterization of protein-DNA dynamics provides unprecedented mechanistic details about numerous nuclear processes. Here, we describe a new method that rapidly generates single-molecule information with fluorescently tagged proteins isolated from nuclear extracts of human cells. We demonstrated the wide applicability of this novel technique on undamaged DNA and three forms of DNA damage using seven native DNA repair proteins and two structural variants, including: poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP1), heterodimeric ultraviolet-damaged DNA-binding protein (UV-DDB), and 8-oxoguanine glycosylase 1 (OGG1).
