Pleurotin (1) is a benzoquinone meroterpenoid known for its wide-spectrum antitumor and antibiotic activities, notably acting as natural inhibitors of the thioredoxin reductase (TrxR). Pleurotin (1) has been chemically synthesized, but only in milligram quantities through at least 13 longest linear steps with 0.8 % overall yield due to its complex structure such as fused hexacyclic core with 8 contiguous stereocenters.

Background: Patinopecten yessoensis, a large and old molluscan group, has been one of the most important aquaculture shellfish in Asian countries because of its high economic value. However, the aquaculture of the species has recently been seriously affected by the frequent outbreaks of Polydora disease, causing great economic losses. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) exhibit exhibit crucial effects on diverse biological processes, but still remain poorly studied in scallops, limiting our understanding of the molecular regulatory mechanism of P.

The Yesso scallop is a large and ancient molluscan group with great economic value; however, it has recently suffered severe cases of infection. parasitizes the shells of scallops, badly damaging shell structures and affecting growth and mortality. To investigate the molecular mechanism of Yesso scallops' response to infection, proteomic profiling changes in the mantle tissues of -infected (diseased) and healthy scallops were systematically analysed by tandem mass tags (TMT) labelling technology in this study.

Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is a unicellular green alga widely used for research in photosynthesis, cell cycle regulation, ciliary biogenesis, and other physiological processes. Sterile cultures are needed for these studies, but contamination from bacteria and fungi occurs frequently. Although the One-shot Solution cocktail consisting of carbendazim, ampicillin, and cefotaxime has been developed for removing these contaminants from algal cultures, it is not always effective.
