The non-structural protein 4 (NSP4) of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is equipped with 3C-like serine protease (3CLSP) activity, influencing crucial aspects such as virus replication, host IFN- suppression, host cell apoptosis induction, and PRRSV detection facilitation. In response to wild or attenuated PRRSV strains, antibodies against non-structural proteins are generated, while inactivated vaccines fail to elicit such responses. Employing the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method targeting non-structural proteins helps discern the immune effects of inactivated versus wild or attenuated vaccine strains.

Improving the electrocatalytic conversion of formate in alkaline solutions is crucial for the commercial application of formate fuel cells. However, palladium-based catalysts used for formate oxidation reactions (FOR) face challenges due to the strong adsorption of hydrogen intermediates, resulting in lower catalytic efficiency in alkaline environments. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is a highly contagious immunosuppressive disease caused by the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) that is characterized by a highly variable gene sequence and a high rate of recombination, thereby contributing to difficulties in the clinical prevention and control of this virus. Glycosylated protein 3 (GP3) is the most glycosylated protein in PRRSV, and is closely associated with the composition of PRRSV virus particles, infection, and immune evasion. This review summarizes the structural features, genetic evolutionary patterns, glycosylation of GP3 and its interactions with other PRRSV and host proteins, associations with PRRSV infection and virulence, and immunomodulatory roles.

The strategic enhancement of manganese-oxygen (Mn─O) covalency is a promising approach to improve the intercalation kinetics of sodium ions (Na⁺) in manganese dioxide (MnO). In this study, an augmenting Mn─O covalency in MnO by strategically incorporating cobalt at oxygen edge-sharing Co octahedral sites is focused on. Both experimental results and density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal an increased electron polarization from oxygen to manganese, surpassing that directed toward cobalt, thereby facilitating enhanced electron transfer and strengthening covalency.
