DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) are cytotoxic lesions that compromise genomic integrity and trigger cell death. Homologous recombination (HR) is a major pathway for repairing DSBs in cycling cells. However, it remains unclear whether transient modulation of HR could confer protection to adult stem cells against lethal irradiation exposure.

Here, a void-free ion-permeable interface between the solid-state polymer electrolyte and electrode is constructed in situ during cycling using charge/discharge voltage as the stimulus. During the charge-discharge, the permeation phase fills the voids at the interface and penetrates the electrode, forming strong bonds with the cathode and effectively mitigating the contact problem.

Our results reveal that the reconstructed dark-energy equation-of-state (EoS) parameter w(z) exhibits the so-called quintom-B behavior, crossing -1 from phantom to quintessence regime as the universe expands. We investigate under what situation this type of evolution could be achieved from the perspectives of field theories and modified gravity.

However, as for lithium-ion storage, the challenge lies in tuning the high lithiation plateau capacities, which impacts the overall energy density. Here, hard carbon microspheres (HCM) are prepared by tailoring the cross-linked polysaccharide, establishing a comprehensive methodology to obtain high-performance lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with long plateau capacities.

This study investigates the spatial-specific toxic effects of carbamazepine (CBZ), a prevalent PPCP, in plants. Utilizing desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry imaging (DESI-MSI), CBZ and its transformation products were observed predominantly at the leaf edges, with 2.

A previous study found a noteworthy up-regulation of a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin type 1 motif 5 (ADAMTS5) gene in human brain microvascular endothelial cells cocultured with subspecies (Tp). To investigate the ADAMTS5 role in Tp invading the central nervous system (CNS), we conducted relevant experiments.

This study included 132 cases of adverse skin reactions after the injection of COVID-19 vaccination from January 2021 to January 2022. The rate of adverse skin reactions after the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were 52%, 40%, and 8% of total adverse skin reactions, respectively.

Methods: Circadian clock genes were downloaded from Circadian Gene Database. To explore CM-related circadian clock genes, we combined multivariate cox regression associated with least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression in the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and validated it in the GSE65904 dataset.

Background: Ultraviolet A (UVA) radiation causes skin damage. Recently, natural compounds have become an interest to protect skin from UV-induced photodamages.
Methods: In this study, we investigated the protective effects of hesperetin, a citrus flavonoid, on UVA-induced oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, and photoaging.
Targeting NAD metabolism has emerged as an effective anticancer strategy. Inspired by the synergistic antitumor effect between NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) substrates increasing the NAD consumption and nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) inhibitors hampering the NAD synthesis, first-in-class small molecules simultaneously targeting NQO1 and NAMPT were identified through structure-based design. In particular, compound is an excellent NQO1 substrate that is processed faster than TSA by NQO1 and exhibited a slightly decreased NAMPT inhibitory potency than that of FK866.

Methods: To find SKCM-related ferroptosis genes, we used Cox regression and LASSO approach on 60 genes related to ferroptosis and SKCM-related RNA-seq. Following that, a ferroptosis-related gene signature was created.

Background: Atopic dermatitis is the most common chronic inflammatory skin disease and presents a major public health burden worldwide. Recent observational studies revealed the potential association between atopic dermatitis with autoimmune disorders. However, there is no meta-analysis of the prevalence or incidence of autoimmune diseases in atopic dermatitis.

Emerging studies have focused on new strategies for the prevention of skin photoaging. Ultrasmall Prussian blue nanoparticles (USPBNPs) demonstrate an intensive ability to scavenge ROS as nanozymes and exhibit great potential in the treatment of ROS-related diseases.
