The gene editing technology represented by clustered rule-interspersed short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/Cas9 has developed as a common tool in the field of biotechnology. Many gene-edited products in plant varieties have recently been commercialized. However, the rapid on-site visual detection of gene-edited products without instrumentation remains challenging.

CRISPR/Cas12a technology is used for nucleic acid detection due to its specific recognition function and non-specific single-stranded DNA cleavage activity. Here, we developed a fluorescence visualisation detection method based on PCR and CRISPR/Cas12a approaches. The method was used to detect the nopaline synthase terminator (T-nos) of genetically modified (GM) crops, circumventing the need for expensive instruments and technicians.

Deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have contributed to the significant progress of the single-image super-resolution (SISR) field. However, the majority of existing CNN-based models maintain high performance with massive parameters and exceedingly deeper structures. Moreover, several algorithms essentially have underused the low-level features, thus causing relatively low performance.

Rank minimization is a key component of many computer vision and machine learning methods, including robust principal component analysis (RPCA) and low-rank representations (LRR). However, usual methods rely on optimization to produce a point estimate without characterizing uncertainty in this estimate, and also face difficulties in tuning parameter choice. Both of these limitations are potentially overcome with Bayesian methods, but there is currently a lack of general purpose Bayesian approaches for rank penalization.

In this paper, we propose a novel sparse coding and counting method under Bayesian framework for visual tracking. In contrast to existing methods, the proposed method employs the combination of L0 and L1 norm to regularize the linear coefficients of incrementally updated linear basis. The sparsity constraint enables the tracker to effectively handle difficult challenges, such as occlusion or image corruption.

We propose a simple yet effective L-regularized prior based on intensity and gradient for text image deblurring. The proposed image prior is based on distinctive properties of text images, with which we develop an efficient optimization algorithm to generate reliable intermediate results for kernel estimation. The proposed algorithm does not require any heuristic edge selection methods, which are critical to the state-of-the-art edge-based deblurring methods.

Subspace segmentation is a fundamental topic in computer vision and machine learning. However, the success of many popular methods is about independent subspace segmentation instead of the more flexible and realistic disjoint subspace segmentation. Focusing on the disjoint subspaces, we provide theoretical and empirical evidence of inferior performance for popular algorithms such as LRR.

Informative and discriminative feature descriptors are vital in qualitative and quantitative shape analysis for a large variety of graphics applications. Conventional feature descriptors primarily concentrate on discontinuity of certain differential attributes at different orders that naturally give rise to their discriminative power in depicting point, line, small patch features, etc. This paper seeks novel strategies to define generalized, user-specified features anywhere on shapes.

Benefiting from its effectiveness in subspace segmentation, low-rank representation (LRR) and its variations have many applications in computer vision and pattern recognition, such as motion segmentation, image segmentation, saliency detection, and semisupervised learning. It is known that the standard LRR can only work well under the assumption that all the subspaces are independent. However, this assumption cannot be guaranteed in real-world problems.

Markov Random Walks (MRW) has proven to be an effective way to understand spectral clustering and embedding. However, due to less global structural measure, conventional MRW (e.g.

The extraction and classification of multitype (point, curve, patch) features on manifolds are extremely challenging, due to the lack of rigorous definition for diverse feature forms. This paper seeks a novel solution of multitype features in a mathematically rigorous way and proposes an efficient method for feature classification on manifolds. We tackle this challenge by exploring a quasi-harmonic field (QHF) generated by elliptic PDEs, which is the stable state of heat diffusion governed by anisotropic diffusion tensor.
