Objective: The clinical effects of artificial dermis in treating skin and soft tissue defects accompanied by bone or tendon exposure were assessed.

Approach: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 45 cases of skin and soft tissue defects accompanied by bone or tendon exposure admitted to the trauma surgery department of Fujian Provincial Hospital between February 2018 and August 2020. They were divided into the artificial dermis and control groups.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is spearheading a new industrial revolution, which provides ample opportunities for the transformational development of traditional fermentation processes. During plasmid fermentation, traditional subjective process control leads to highly unstable plasmid yields. In this study, a multi-parameter correlation analysis was first performed to discover a dynamic metabolic balance among the oxygen uptake rate, temperature, and plasmid yield, whilst revealing the heating rate and timing as the most important optimization factor for balanced cell growth and plasmid production.

We present an efficient approach for the consecutive synthesis of Au-TiO nanocomposites with controlled morphologies in a microfluidic chip. The seed-mediated growth method was employed to synthesize Au nanorods as the core, and TiO layers of varying thicknesses were deposited on the surface or tip of the Au nanorods. Au-TiO nanocomposites with core-shell, dumbbell, and dandelion-like structures can be precisely synthesized in a one-step manner within the microfluidic chip by finely tuning the flow rate of NaHCO and the amount of hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide.

Butenyl-spinosyn is a highly effective, wide-spectrum and environmentally-friendly biological insecticide produced by . However, its scale-up is impeded due to its lower titer in wild-type strains. In this work, ARTP/UV mutagenesis and ribosome engineering were employed to enhance the butenyl-spinosyn production, and a stable mutant aG6 with high butenyl-spinosyn yield was successfully obtained.

Background: Untreated ankle fractures with concomitant tibiofibular syndesmosis injury often lead to postoperative pain and early traumatic arthritis. CT has advantages in the preoperative diagnosis of combined ankle injuries. However, a few studies have investigated the best preoperative CT parameters to predict tibiofibular syndesmosis injuries associated with ankle fractures.

Purpose: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common inflammatory disease associated with pain and cartilage destruction. Interleukin (IL)-1β is widely used to induce inflammatory response in OA models. This study aimed to explore the role of Danshensu (DSS) in IL-1β-induced inflammatory responses in OA.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a whole-joint disease with extremely high prevalence. In all treatment approaches of OA, blocking the degradation of the cartilage extracellular matrix is an important treatment. In OA, overexpression of derivative enzymes leads to excessive catabolism and reduced synthesis of cartilage including type II collagen and aggrecan, which results in irreversible destruction of the joint.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of pterygopalatine fossa puncture using one acupuncture needle inserted through the temporal fossa (intervention) and Chinese verum acupuncture (VA) in patients with moderate-to-severe persistent allergic rhinitis.

Methods: The patients were randomized to an intervention group receiving pterygopalatine fossa puncture with one acupuncture needle for 4 weeks (once or twice weekly, 4-8 sessions in total, with a second course performed if required) or to a control group receiving individualized VA for 4 weeks (twice weekly, eight sessions in total). Patients were followed up 4 weeks later.

Background: Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are considered good candidates for seed cells in bone engineering. The study aim to investigate the synergistic effects of human bone morphogenetic protein 2 (hBMP2) and transforming growth factor beta3 (hTGF-beta3) modified BMSCs on inducing osteogenic differentiation in vitro.

Methods: Lentivirus (LV) carrying hBMP2 and/or hTGF-beta3 genes were constructed and used to transduce rat BMSCs.

Acid mine discharge (AMD) has been demonstrated to have significant impacts on microbial community composition in the surrounding soil environment. However, their effect on adjacent soil has not been extensively studied. In this study, microbial community composition of 20 AMD-contaminated soil samples collected from an abandoned coal mine along an AMD creek was characterized using high-throughput sequencing.

Objective: To identify the feasibility and safety of fossa infratemporalis approach for blind-needle at sphenopalatine ganglion so as to provide anatomical evidence for the operation and the prevention of non-immediate adverse reaction.

Methods: The variations of pterygopalatine fossae in sixty dry skulls were observed by selecting measuring points for facial skull width. The brains of six wet skulls were taken out, then acupuncture of fossa infratemporalis approach was applied.

Background: Uncontrolled bleeding is associated with poor outcomes and mortality in geriatric patients undergoing hemiarthroplasty. Hemocoagulase agkistrodon is a hemocoagulative, anti-hemorrhagic enzyme complex from Deinagkistrodon acutus snake venom. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of hemocoagulase agkistrodon on coagulation and bleeding outcomes in fracture-related hemiarthroplasty.

Objective: To compare the effects of acupuncture on sphenopalatine ganglion and acupuncture on the common acupoints for life quality of patients with allergic rhinitis(AR).

Methods: Eighty patients with AR,who were in accord with the inclusive criteria, were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group,40 cases in each one. Acupuncture on sphenopalatine ganglion was used in the observation group.

Objective: To study the rate of mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) on HIV-1.

Methods: All local residents from 8 townships in a region were screened for mothers who had a history of only one blood transfusion and 63 were found HIV-1 positive. A further study on these HIV-1 positive mothers and their children was conducted with the emphasis on the date of receiving blood transfusion, date and type of nationality, history regarding breastfeeding and so on.
