A novel mesophilic, aerotolerant anaerobic bacterium, designated JN-18, was isolated from the pit mud of a strong aromatic Chinese liquor. According to a 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, it had the highest sequence similarity to DSM 103574 (95.69%).

In order to explore the effect of the energetic complex on the thermal decomposition HMX, two new rare-earth energetic complexes [La(tza)(NO)(HO)] () and [Ce(tza)(NO)(HO)] () (Htza = tetrazole-1-acetic acid) were prepared by a solvent evaporation method. The obtained products were structurally characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis coupled with differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC). In addition, the compatibility of complex with cyclotetramethylene tetranitramine (HMX) was studied by DSC and FTIR, respectively.

The solid-to-solid crystallization processes of organic molecules have been poorly understood in view of the complexity and the instability of organic crystals. Here, we studied the crystallization of a π-conjugated small molecular semiconductor, bis-(8-hydroxyquinoline) copper (CuQ), by annealing the thin films at different temperatures. We observed a classical film-to-nanorods crystallization at 80 °C, a coexistence of classical and nonclassical nucleation and particle growth at 120 °C, and a nonclassical crystal growth at 150 °C.

Perovskite-type LaFeO(3) and alpha-Fe(2)O(3) with high specific surface areas were directly prepared with appropriate stearic acid-nitrates ratios by a novel stearic acid solution combustion method. The obtained powders were characterized by XRD, FT-IR and XPS techniques. The catalytic activities of perovskite-type LaFeO(3) and alpha-Fe(2)O(3) for the thermal decomposition of octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (HMX) were investigated by TG and TG-EGA techniques.
