Melanoma represents a prime example demonstrating the success of targeted therapy in cancer. Nevertheless, it remained a deadly disease until now, and the identification of new, independent strategies as well as the understanding of their molecular mechanisms may help to finally overcome the high mortality. Both indirubins and TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) represent promising candidates.

This work describes a technique for the measurement of 222Rn by absorption in polycarbonate (PC) powder and liquid scintillation counting (LSC). The work is an improvement of the recently proposed method for 222Rn measurements by LSC of exposed PC grains. It is demonstrated that the use of PC powder as a 222Rn sampler improves 13.

The purpose of the present study was the synthesis and the biological screening of new analogues of N/OFQ(1-13)NH2, the minimal sequence maintaining the same activity as the natural peptide nociceptin. In order to investigate the role of Lys, we substituted Lys at positions 9 and/or 13 by Orn, Dab (diaminobutanoic acid) or Dap (diaminopropanoic acid). The new N/OFQ(1-13)NH2 analogues exerted strong and naloxone-resistant inhibition of electrically evoked contractions of rat vas deferens.
