Bud dormancy is a critical adaptive trait in woody plants, essential for enduring harsh winter conditions. The relationship between bud break timing and cold resistance is complex and has been a subject of debate. This study utilizes a Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) on 201 natural mulberry populations to identify the gene, which shows the strongest association with bud break timing.

Lamb meat has become very popular with consumers in recent years due to its nutritional benefits. As a lean red meat, lamb is an important natural source of polyunsaturated and saturated fatty acids, which can be modified by adjustments in livestock feed. This study used proteomic and metabolic analyses to compare a basal ration supplemented with either mulberry silage or corn silage.

Meningioma is a benign tumor with slow growth and long course. However, patients with recurrent malignant meningioma still face a lack of effective treatment. Here, we report a rare case of primary mediastinal malignant meningioma with lung and bone metastases, who benefited from the treatment of apatinib (≥33 months) and anlotinib (until the publication date).

Heterostructured materials show great potential to enhance the specific capacity, rate performance and cycling lifespan of lithium-ion batteries owing to their unique interfaces, robust architectures, and synergistic effects. Herein, a polypyrrole (PPy)-coated nanotube-like MoS/CoMoS heterostructure is prepared by the hydrothermal and subsequent in situ polymerization methods. The well-designed nanotube-like structure is beneficial to relieve the serious volume changes and facilitate the infiltration of electrolytes during the charge/discharge process.

To investigate the influence of nanometakaolin (NMK) on the compression behavior of concrete, acoustic emission (AE) is applied to monitor the development of cracks on ordinary concrete as a control sample and concrete with the addition of 1% or 3% NMK during the whole compressive process. The AE parameters (event, count, RA-AF, etc.) and Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) were analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • Vegetables are vital for health, but options specifically for blood sugar control are few, making the mulberry tree a promising candidate due to its blood-sugar-lowering compound, DNJ.
  • This study analyzed the nutritional and DNJ content across twelve mulberry varieties, finding that tender shoots have higher sugar content and positive sensory evaluations.
  • The results suggest that certain mulberry varieties could be developed as functional foods for better blood sugar management, highlighting their potential for commercial use.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic has had a huge impact on a global scale and its impact has covered almost all human industries. The Chinese government enacted a series of policies to restrict the transportation industry in order to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus in early 2020. With the gradual control of the COVID-19 epidemic and the reduction of confirmed cases, the Chinese transportation industry has gradually recovered.

Article Synopsis
  • A new virus named Quanzhou mulberry virus (QMV) was discovered in the leaves of a 1300-year-old mulberry tree in China, using advanced RNA sequencing techniques.
  • The QMV genome is 9256 nucleotides long, has five open reading frames, and consists of icosahedral particles, placing it within the unclassified Riboviria group.
  • An infectious clone of QMV was created and introduced into mulberry plants, showing that the virus moves systemically in seedlings but does not cause visible symptoms.

Photocatalytic oxidation is considered one of the most effective ways to remove formaldehyde from indoor air. However, the use of powder photocatalysts is limited by their low adsorption capacity and strong aggregation tendency. Hence, there is a need for a composite material with good cycling stability and high degradation efficiency.

Viruses-mediated genome editing in plants is a powerful strategy to develop plant cultivars with important and novel agricultural traits. Mulberry alba is an important economic tree species that has been cultivated in China for more than 5000 years. So far, only a few viruses have been identified from mulberry trees, and their application potential is largely unknown.

To understand the yield and quality of off-season mulberry fruits, which are cultivated in open fields from autumn, the biological characteristics, bioactive compounds, and antioxidant activities of them were analyzed. Compared with mulberry fruits in normal season, the fruit length, fruit diameter, single fruit weight, fruit yield per meter strip, and the fruits yield per 667 m are significantly lower. The moisture content and juice yield of off-season mulberry fruits are lower than the mulberry fruits in normal season; the pH and soluble solids are higher.

Predicting the population density of key areas of the city is crucial. It helps reduce the spread risk of Covid-19 and predict individuals' travel needs. Although current researches focus on using the method of clustering to predict the population density, there is almost no discussion about using spatial-temporal models to predict the population density of key areas in a city without using actual regional images.

We present a coral-like FeP composite with FeP nanoparticles anchored and dispersed on a nitrogen-doped 3D carbon framework (FeP@NC). Due to the highly continuous N-doped carbon framework and a spring-buffering graphitized carbon layer around the FeP nanoparticle, a sodium-ion battery with the FeP@NC composite exhibits an ultra-stable cycling performance at 10 A g with a capacity retention of 82.0 % in 10 000 cycles.

Lung cancer is one of the most lethal diseases and therefore poses a significant threat to human health. The Warburg effect, which is the observation that cancer cells predominately produce energy through glycolysis, even under aerobic conditions, is a hallmark of cancer. 6‑phosphofructo‑2‑kinase/fructose‑2,6‑biphosphatase 2 (PFKFB) is an important regulator of glycolysis.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are often considered bioameliorators. AMF can promote plant growth under various stressful conditions; however, differences between male and female clones in mycorrhizal strategies that protect plants from the detrimental effects of salinity are not well studied. In this study, we aimed to examine the interactive effects of salinity and AMF on the growth, photosynthetic traits, nutrient uptake, and biochemical responses of males and females.
