A regioselective cobalt-catalyzed three-component silylamidation that rapidly and reliably incorporates dioxazolones and silylzinc pivalates into unconjugated alkenyl amides is disclosed. Notably, the unique power of this protocol is demonstrated by the possibility of achieving peptide ligation using peptide-containing dioxazolones or alkenyl amides as the coupling partners. Moreover, this approach is distinguished by its mild condition, synthetic simplicity, and ample scope, thus providing a new platform for modular access to silicon-containing amino acid derivatives and peptides.

A nickel-catalyzed C-S silylation of aryl thianthrenium salts with salt-stabilized silylzinc pivalates is disclosed, thus allowing us to rapidly incorporate silyl motifs into aromatics in a site- and chemoselective fashion. This method is distinguished by its ample scope and facile derivatizations of the aryl silanes for increasing functional molecular complexity. Moreover, modular installation of silyl groups into pharmaceutically active molecules provides a new platform for the synthesis of sila-drugs.

Bamboo is an ideal green building material with excellent mechanical properties. Phosphogypsum (PG) is a kind of solid waste residue which is in urgent need of resource utilization and has been used as construction material. In this paper, a kind of round bamboo-fiber reinforced phosphogypsum composite short column was proposed.

Purpose: To characterize the phenotype and genotype of a Chinese family with autosomal-dominant retinitis pigmentosa (RP) accompanied by iris coloboma.

Methods: The proband, a 34-year-old male, was examined with his family by using fundus photography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), autofluorescence, and full-field electroretinography (ffERG). Genetic analyses were conducted through whole-exome sequencing (WES) to screen for variations.

Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) exhibit unique patterns of expression and high levels of stability in patient plasma samples such that they represent ideal non-invasive biomarkers that can be leveraged to detect a wide array of diseases including endometrial cancer (EC). This study was designed to identify circRNAs with potential diagnostic utility in serum samples from EC patients while also evaluating the utility of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) as a biomarker when screening for this form of cancer in the clinic.

Methods: Levels of circEPSTI1 and MIF were assessed in the plasma of EC patients and healthy subjects (n=186 each) through qPCR and ELISAs.

Photoreceptor cell death, primarily through apoptosis, related to retinal disorders like retinitis pigmentosa (RP), would result in vision loss. The pathological processes and crucial mutant conditions preceding photoreceptor cell demise are not well understood. This study aims to conduct an in-depth examination of early-stage changes in the widely utilized Pde6b (rd1) mouse model, which has Pde6b gene mutations representing autosomal recessive RP disorder.

The use of amino-terminated siloxanes as coupling interface for perovskite single crystals (PSCs)/silicon integrated devices has been demonstrated to be an effective method toward CMOS compatible optoelectronics; however, it suffers from the coupling stability against the hydrophilicity of the exposed terminal amino groups. In this work, a phenyl-terminated interfacial molecule, anilino-methyl-triethoxysilane (AMTES), is proposed to achieve the effectively galvanic coupling between PSCs and silicon, which can not only improve the device environmental reliability but also lower the surface energy of the silicon substrate so as to facilitate the epitaxial growth of PSCs. Benefiting from the interfacial coupling of AMTES, the obtained MAPbI SC/silicon integrated device possesses highly efficient multiwavelength photodetection properties across the X-ray and NIR range, which exhibits a specific detectivity * of 3.

This work is designed to probe the functions and mechanisms of circ_0000518 in breast cancer (BC). qRT-PCR was performed to evaluate the circ_0000518, miR-1225-3p and Sry‑Related HMG box 4 (SOX4) mRNA expression in BC tissues and cells. After circ_0000518 was overexpressed in MDA-MB-468 cells, and circ_0000518 was knocked down in BT549 cells, CCK-8 test, and EdU assay were performed to measure the viability and growth of MDA-MB-468 and BT549 cells.

Aim: To analyze the visual acuity (VA) and the incidence of secondary glaucoma among patients with closed globe injury (CGI). To determine the correlations between the ocular trauma score (OTS) with surgery rate, and evaluate the applicability of OTS in secondary glaucoma prediction and treatment.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 265 patients (265 eyes) with CGI admitted to Xijing Hospital between January 2014 and December 2016.

Emerging evidence has indicated that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play critical roles in tumor development and progression. Recent studies reported that lncRNA MIR22HG could play important roles in hepatocellular carcinoma and lung cancer progression. However, the expression and underlying mechanism of MIR22HG in endometrial cancer (EC) remain unclear.

The present study was aimed to investigate the effect of benzothiazole on the invasive and metastasis potential of HeLa DH cervical cancer cells and the underlying mechanism. HeLa DH cervical cells were cultured with 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 μM concentrations of benzothiazole for 48 h. Benzothiazole treatment did not induce any cytotoxic effect on HeLa DH cells after 48 h of incubation.

Background: Acute primary angle closure (PAC) can be refractory to conventional treatment and intraocular pressure (IOP) is beyond control. Surgical intervention should be considered at the moment. The aim of the study was to compare small-incision phacotrabeculectomy (phacotrab, small-incision trabeculectomy combined with phacoemulsification) with phacoemulsification (phaco) in patients with refractory acute PAC and coexisting cataract.

The optic nerve often suffers regenerative failure after injury, leading to serious visual impairment such as glaucoma. The main inhibitory factors, including Nogo-A, oligodendrocyte myelin glycoprotein, and myelin-associated glycoprotein, exert their inhibitory effects on axonal growth through the same receptor, the Nogo-66 receptor (NgR). Oncomodulin (OM), a calcium-binding protein with a molecular weight of an ∼12 kDa, which is secreted from activated macrophages, has been demonstrated to have high and specific affinity for retinal ganglion cells (RGC) and promote greater axonal regeneration than other known polypeptide growth factors.

Aim: To investigate the maternal homocysteine (Hcy), folate, vitamin B(12) and B(6) , and their relations to neural tube defects (NTDs).

Methods: Thirty mothers of NTDs offspring and another 60 mothers of normal children were enrolled as the patient and control groups from Xinjiang, China, from January 2008 to May 2011. The plasma levels of Hcy, folate, vitamin B(12) and B(6) were measured and compared between the two groups.

NIR spectromneter for non-destruction measurement of oil contents in an integrated kernel of corn was manufactured. Using LED (light emitting diode) as the light source and six filters as the monochromator, the specifications of the instrument are compared with those of the commercial instruments. The regression coefficient, the standard error, and the relative error of measuring oil contents in an integrated kernel of corn are 0.
