It is difficult to distinguish Parkinson's disease (PD) in the early stage from those of various disorders including atypical Parkinson's syndrome (APS), vascular parkinsonism (VP), and even essential tremor (ET), because of the overlap of symptoms. Other, more challenging problems will arise when Parkinson's disease develops into Parkinson's disease dementia (PDD) in the middle and late stages. At this time, the differential diagnosis of PDD and DLB becomes thorny.

The existence of lymphatic vessels or similar clearance systems in the central nervous system (CNS) that transport nutrients and remove cellular waste is a neuroscientific question of great significance. As the brain is the most metabolically active organ in the body, there is likely to be a potential correlation between its clearance system and the pathological state of the CNS. Until recently the successive discoveries of the glymphatic system and the meningeal lymphatics solved this puzzle.

Alginate capillary hydrogels seeded with differentiated cells can fill the lesion cavity and promote axonal regeneration after grafting into the injured spinal cord. Neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs) can potentially repair the spinal cord; however, effects of alginate hydrogels (AHs) on NSPCs remain unknown. In this study, we fabricated AHs cross-linked by Ca and seeded hydrogels with rat embryonic day 14 NSPCs.

Ovarian cancer is a leading cause of death among gynecological malignancies, and novel therapies are urgently needed. Here we report preliminary findings on the potential safety and efficacy of 6B11-OCIK, an adoptive cell therapy of autologous T cells induced by the humanized anti-idiotypic antibody 6B11 minibody plus dendritic cells and cytokines, against platinum-resistant recurrent or refractory ovarian cancer in three patients. We found that 6B11-OCIK treatment was safe and well tolerated after five cycles of intravenous infusion with an initial dose of 1-2×10 cells and a dose-climbing strategy.

Objective: Hematogenous metastasis is essential for the progression of ovarian cancer (OC), and circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are part of the metastatic cascade. However, the detection rate of CTC is low due to the use of less sensitive detection methods. Therefore, this study aimed to detect CTCs and circulating tumorigenic endothelial cells (CTECs) in patients with OC using subtraction enrichment and immunostaining and fluorescence hybridization (SE-iFISH).

Objective: Glycoprotein non-metastatic protein B (GPNMB) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is expressed at higher levels in several malignant human tissues than those in matched normal tissues. Thus, GPNMB may serve as an attractive therapeutic target of cancer treatment. In this study, the prognostic value of GPNMB expression was examined in tumors derived from a cohort of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).
