TiMn based multinary alloys make full use of the high abundance of rare earth resources in attractive applications of hydrogen storage but suffer from mediocre hydrogen ab/desorption kinetics and lack the in-depth mechanism analysis of hydrogenation/dehydrogenation behavior. Herein, on the basis of current research on compositional modulation, we utilize the low-cost powder metallurgy method to prepare TiZrMnCrV (x = -0.05, 0, 0.

Cancer cells are intimately intertwined with tumor microenvironment (TME), fostering a symbiotic relationship propelling cancer progression. However, the interaction between cancer cells and tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) in urothelial bladder cancer (UBC) remains poorly understood. UBC cell lines (5637, T24 and SW780), along with a monocytic cell line (U937) capable of differentiating into macrophage, were used in a co-culture system for cell proliferation and stemness by MTT, sphere formation assays.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focuses on enhancing silicon anodes for all-solid-state lithium batteries, which have high capacity but suffer from significant volume expansion during use, limiting their commercial viability.
  • - To address this, researchers created a porous micron-sized silicon anode coated with a self-doped carbon layer, enabling better structural stability and reducing the risk of fragmentation during the charge/discharge cycles.
  • - The modified anode (p-mSi@C) demonstrated impressive electrochemical performance and provided insights into the chemical failure mechanisms, paving the way for more practical applications of silicon anodes in battery technology.

Electrochemical nitrate reduction to ammonia (NRA) is a promising sustainable way to synthesize ammonia (NH) from nitrate (NO ) contaminants. Cu-based electrocatalysts are frequently utilized for NRA due to their strong NO adsorption and de-oxygenation ability. However, this kind of catalyst usually possesses the weak water dissociation ability, resulting in insufficient proton supply in alkaline media to retard the following hydrogenation step of O-containing intermediates (*NO, typically NO ) to target NH.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases, and the most prevalent form of dementia. The main hallmarks for the diagnosis of AD are extracellular amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaque deposition and intracellular accumulation of highly hyperphosphorylated Tau protein as neurofibrillary tangles. The brain consumes more oxygen than any other organs, so it is more easily to be affected by hypoxia.

  • - Inflammasomes play a key role in immune responses and various clinical conditions, and this study uncovers a specific mechanism regulating the function of Caspase-1 and ASC proteins in their assembly.
  • - It was discovered that the nuclear protein ZBTB16 enhances SUMO modification of ASC, which is crucial for proper inflammasome function.
  • - The research highlighted the importance of ZBTB16 by showing that removing it in a mouse model reduced inflammation related to a hyperactive inflammasome, providing insight into potential therapeutic targets for inflammatory diseases.

Structural damage of Ni-rich layered oxide cathodes such as LiNiCoMnO (NCM811) and serious interfacial side reactions and physical contact failures with sulfide electrolytes (SEs) are the main obstacles restricting ≥4.6 V high-voltage cyclability of all-solid-state lithium batteries (ASSLBs). To tackle this constraint, here, a modified NCM811 with LiPO coating and B/P co-doping using inexpensive BPO as raw materials via the one-step in situ synthesis process is presented.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a serious health threat worldwide, especially for the younger demographic. Our previous study demonstrated that HET0016 (a specific inhibitor of 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid synthesis) can decrease the lesion volume in the immature brain post-TBI; however, its mechanism of action and its association with pyroptosis post-TBI are unclear. In this study, we established a controlled cortical impact (CCI) injury rat model (postnatal day 9-10) and observed that increased expression of indicators for pyroptosis, including NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3), caspase-1 and gasdermin D (GSDMD) proteins and interleukin (IL)-18/IL-1β mRNA during the acute phase of TBI, especially on post-injury day (PID) 1.

Ionic conductive hydrogel fibers based on natural polymers provide an immense focus for a new generation of electronics due to their flexibility and knittability. The feasibility of utilizing pure natural polymer-based hydrogel fibers could be drastically improved if their mechanical and transparent performances satisfy the requirements of actual practice. Herein, we report a facile fabrication strategy for significantly stretchable and sensitive sodium alginate ionic hydrogel fibers (SAIFs), by glycerol initiating physical crosslinking and by CaCl inducing ionic crosslinking.
