NO emissions are a major environmental problem, and the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is the most effective method to convert NO in flue gas into harmless N and HO. In this work, a new carrier, CuCeO microflower assembled from a large number of copper-cerium mixed oxide nanosheets, is firstly developed to load vanadium-tungsten mixed oxides (VWO) for the SCR of NO with NH. The resultant optimal VWO/CuCeO catalyst exhibits significantly enhanced low-temperature de-NO performance with the NO conversion of 60% at 180 °C, over 90% from 240 °C to 390 °C under the gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of 36,000 h.

Multifunctional SnO/TiO/RGO nanocomposites with enhanced photocatalytic degradation and antibacterial activity have been successfully synthesized by a facile one-pot environmentally friendly green hydrothermal route using titanium tetrabutoxide (TBOT), NaSnO and graphene oxide (GO) without reducing agents and any structure-directing agents. The results demonstrate that the reaction pH conditions play important roles in the control of the crystallographic phases of TiO and SnO. In addition, the visible-light-active photocatalytic and antibacterial activities of the synthesized composites were measured for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) and the growth inhibition of the Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli (E.

The striatopallidal pathway is specialized for control of motor and motivational behaviors, but its causal role in striatal control of instrumental learning remains undefined (partly due to the confounding motor effects). Here, we leveraged the transient and "time-locked" optogenetic manipulations with the reward delivery to minimize motor confounding effect, to better define the striatopallidal control of instrumental behaviors. Optogenetic (Arch) silencing of the striatopallidal pathway in the dorsomedial striatum (DMS) and dorsolateral striatum (DLS) promoted goal-directed and habitual behaviors, respectively, without affecting acquisition of instrumental behaviors, indicating striatopallidal pathway suppression of instrumental behaviors under physiological condition.

Treatment with atmospheric-pressure (AP) hydrogen cold plasma is an effective method for preparing highly active supported metal catalytic materials. However, this technique typically uses H as working gas, which is explosive and difficult to transport. This study proposes the use of PdCl as a Pd precursor and activated carbon as the support to fabricate Pd/C catalytic materials (Pd/C-EP-Ar) by using ethanol-which is renewable, easily stored, and safe-combined with AP cold plasma (AP ethanol cold plasma) followed by calcination in Ar gas at 550 °C for 2 h.

Yingyangbao (YYB) is a nutrient-dense complementary food supplement for infants and young children in China. There has been considerable interest and research on the potential effects of YYB on hematological and anthropometric outcomes in China, but limited effort has been made to consolidate and synthesize the evidence to inform the research and policy agendas. Eight English databases and three Chinese databases were searched from January 2001 to June 2019 to identify YYB intervention studies.

Background: Little is known about the patterns of development assistance (DA) for each component of reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH) in conflict-affected countries nor about the DA allocation in relation to the burden of disease.

Methods: We tracked DA to RMNCAH in general and to each of its four components: reproductive health (RH), maternal and newborn health (MNH), child health (CH) and adolescent health (AH), in 25 conflict-affected countries between 2003 and 2017. We compared DA and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) for each component.

Article Synopsis
  • Phenobarbital (PB), an antiseizure medication, is recognized for activating cytochrome P450 through the constitutive androstane receptor (CAR), but its effects on the pregnane X receptor (PXR) are less understood.
  • In experiments with human CAR knockout HepaRG cells, PB was found to induce the expression of CYP2B6 and CYP3A4, targeting genes for both hCAR and hPXR, with the CYP3A4 induction significantly inhibited by hPXR interference.
  • PB directly activates hPXR in a concentration-dependent manner, binding to its ligand domain, and crucially, an essential amino acid (tryptophan-299) in the hPXR binding pocket is

T helper 17 (Th17) cells are regarded as key factors in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS). Although the involvement of certain microRNAs (miRNAs) in the development of MS has been reported, their roles in Th17 cell differentiation and MS pathogenesis remain elusive. In this study, we identified that let-7f-5p expression is significantly downregulated in CD4 T cells from MS patients and during the process of Th17 differentiation.
