Backgroud: Patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) often experience low serum free triiodothyronine (FT3), but the association of low FT3 with stroke severity, subtype and prognosis has not yet been thoroughly studied, and the molecular events underlying these clinical observation were also unclear.
Methods: We retrospectively collected 221 cases of AIS and 182 non-AIS cases with detailed clinical data from our department. FT3 concentrations were measured on admission to predict functional outcome within 3 months using multivariable models adjusted for other risk factors.

Recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) is the first-line drug for revascularization in acute cerebral infarction (ACI) treatment. In this study, an improved rat embolic middle cerebral artery occlusion model for ischaemic stroke was used and the rats were killed on the first, third and seventh day after model establishment. Increases in infarct volume were significantly less in the thrombolytic group than in the conventional group at every time-point.

Methods: Clinical data such as blood examination, imaging, computed tomography (CT), EEG, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings from five patients with anti-GABAR encephalitis were retrospectively analyzed.
Results: Based on the imaging data, autoimmune encephalitis with anti-GABAR antibodies displayed subacute onset of episodic memory loss, seizures, and confusion, in addition to signal changes in the medial temporal lobe and/or hippocampus.
Bone marrow-derived circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) contribute to angiogenesis and vascular repair. The number and function of EPCs are significantly decreased following exposure to ambient fine particulate matter of ≤2.5 µm in diameter (PM) through reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and inflammatory cytokine secretion.
